Here's why I think roadsters are like javelina (pig like creature).
I live in the desert of Arizona. People keep talking about the javelina they have seen because some actually put feed out for them (not a good idea) to attract them for photo opts. After living here since 1997, I have not seen one javelina, yet in person. I've been all over the Superstition Mtn trails for hundreds of hours and still no "pigs". I've seen them in books, on the web, TV, and videos but not eye to eye. I did see something like one one evening but at about 80 to 100 lbs and "razarback" hair tuff, I think it was too big for a javelina (40 to 60 lbs and 19 in tall). Oh, I did see one at the zoo, also.
There are 8000+ roadsters out there in the wild. I have only seen one in the same amount of time I have been observing the wildlife in AZ. I did see one at work where a guy drove in just to show me. Another guy showed me his complete build plan with lots of pics but he had sold it. (AZ Pete). I saw another one on the freeway on the way to work but I think it was a Superformance one. Again, like the javelina I have seen roadsters in books, videos, at car show (sort of like the zoo) and numerous other ways but where are they in the wild? Well, I can't tell you how surprized I was one day to see a light blue one streak by in front of me in AJ, while I was at a trafffic light. I was so astonished that I did a Ue and followed the guy. He happened to stop at a gas station so I approached him and asked all the usual questions about his build. He was a typically nice guy who was a car/racer enthusiast. He had built this FFR about 10 yrs ago. It was a Mk I. So you can see if I get excited about seeing an old FFR, I'm not exaggerating about their scarcity. Hopefully, there will be more FFRs released into the wild before I'm too old to enjoy it!
Have any others out there experienced this phenomenon? Thanks, WEK.
