Im looking at the Coyote engine. I know that FFR is making headers and oil pan for it, my question is, what else is needed for this install. Like special fuel pump, wiring harness and computer, ect. Can I get some feed back from some of you guys that have allready looked into this? Oh and I just bought a TKO 600 will it work with the Coyote?

David,

Take a look at David Borden's build thread, there is some good info there on the issues thus far.

I think it depends also on what you want to do as far as power steering and AC. Also, right now FFR is not making a pan or headers for it. In the thread you can see how David is planning to convert a pair of 4.6 headers, and I believe Champ is making a pan. Here is a thread covering some of that. http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?529-Coyote-Headers-oil-pan-etc...&highlight=coyote

OldGuy from MA also has a thread going at FFCars on a Coyote install.

One thing to note, the Coyote engine doesn't have any mounting bosses a for power steering pump, unless you want to remove the A/C and fab something up t go in the place of the A/C pump. This is a prime opportunity to use an electric power steering pump, you can also use it to add hydroboost for power brakes.

There are a couple of drag racers/shops working on power steering bracket solution. We've tried one on a Coyote swap already and it bolted up nice, but the bracket flexed, so they're working on stiffening it/reinforcing it. So be patient, it will come. Whether it fits in the FFR chassis (the power steering pump and bracket) is another thing, as these brackets are designed for swapping into Mustangs.

As for the TKO-600, if you bought just the trans itself then all you need to do is get the modular Ford bellhousing. If you got it complete with bellhousing you need to make sure you got the right bellhousing (modular versus small or big-block Ford)...

Here is one solution from Sean Hyland (modular Ford builder)

Also, KRC Power Steering is working on a bracket to mount their pump as well. Not sure when it is due...

Im not aware that FFR is working on an oil pan or headers at this point. Champ and Canton are working on a pan so thats not an issue. The headers are doable with an adapter flange.(check my thread).

The Coyote requires a specific harness and computer that comes in a kit and will interface with FFRs chassis harness with no issues.

I plan to run PS, PB and AC, and will design brackets/mounts to make it work if needed. Ive checked and it should all fit.

Mark, is there a source where I can get the measurements/bolt spacing of the mounting holes on the block and front cover? It sure would make designing a solution easier.

David, I'm heading out of town for business on Monday for the better part of the week, but when I get back I will investigate. I don't know if FRPP has anything, but they might be able to get something out of engineering for me.

David:
I have been working on my planning, and was thinking that PS, PB, and some AC would be a good idea. I've been keeping an eye on your build thread, so teh info on mounting brackets will be very handy. Are you planning on ABS, or just PB?

TIA

what would the best fuel pump be for this system? And "buyfordracing" has the coyote for $5,900, that seems unreal

Has anyone seen the power steering that seanhylandmotorsport.com is offering?
