How does it work with a donar car? Do you go out and get a damaged corvette, and completely dismantle it, using all of the parts for the new GTM?
I'm about to begin an MK4 build and purchased the complete kit, plus a broken in engine from Engine Factory. Very turnkey solution.
I hope that when I'm done with the MK4, I'll have the confidence and experience to build a GTM.
Does FFR have plans to refine the GTM to the same extent that they've done to the MK4, by offering a complete kit? It seems like the GTM uses many more parts than the MK4, so I'm not sure if that would be cost effective.

there are a few threads on this process here, do a quick search and you should find some. there is one somewhere that is very detailed in the costs involved starting from what the doner car cost in the beginning, through selling some of the extra parts off. in the end, he pretty much got all the parts for free.

The GTM was engineered to use the C5 corvette parts listed as "what you need"http://www.factoryfive.com/kits/gtm-supercar/what-you-need/ and a Porsche G50 or G50 variant transmission including clutch disk, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, inner CV joints & starter or Mendeola 5 speed transmission.

The manual does a great job on the donor tear down.

There are a few options for sourcing the C5 items.
1. Buy a donor and complete the tear down.
- If you have the space many believe this to be the best option. You will become familiar with the parts and have access to items that you will find usefull during the build. Like Mendo mentioned, you can sell most of what you don't need. Many have reported recouping the cost of the donor. Insurance auctions like Copart are great sources. Member Kalstar has assisted others with this also.

2. Buy a New or Used Donor Pallet Parts Kit. (The used pallet will not include the C5 engine and some other parts, as is)
-New- SMC Performance http://www.smcperformance.com/GTM/completekit.htm (Great option if you prefer new parts for the build)
-Used- Fparts http://www.ebay.com/itm/Factory-Five-GTM-Kit-Donor-Corvette-C5-Component-Kit-/110828156851?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item19cddf77b3
-Used Possible?- Cypress does FFR donor pallets and may be able to source a GTM pallet. http://www.cypressautosalvage.com/#
