Does anyone out there have any experience with using the kirkey racing (high back) seat and the FFR adjustable seat tracks. I am having some trouble trying to visualize how these are going to fit together. I can more or less see how to mount the track to the chassis, but am having issues with trying to get a fit for the track to the seat bottom. Mount points on the bottom of the seat are not exactly flat relative to each other. This is made significantly worse when the track with the lever arm is used, as then there is as much as a 1" gap - I can see lots of spacers in use for this.

Any info and especially pictures would be helpful.

I used the Summit sliders on mine, but it's the same idea.

Two steel plates bolted to the floor to provide a mounting point for the sliders

"L" brackets attached to the side of the seat

The sliders work fine and the seat is very solid.

Jeff - thanks for the info and photos. Did you have any trouble finding good mounting points for the sliders on the floor with the width of the sliders on the outside of the seat? I assume that is why you added the steel supports on the floor - more solid. Also, any fit issues with the added bracket on the outside of the seat? Is the lever on the tranny tunnel side of the cockpit? Did you also do this for the passenger side?

I saw one similar approach when I looked at other posts. Both of the options use the side "L" bracket approach - not mounting the sliders to the seat bottom directly. That may be the way I go, but am still curious if anyone else did this by bolting the sliders directly to the seat bottom.

I added the steel plate to the floor to provide a mounting point for the sliders. The brackets on the outside of the seat are how Kirkey recommends mounting the seat. They don't however recommend using sliders or bolting through the bottom of the seat. The brackets don't get in the way of anything and since they are on the outside of the seat it is very stable. The adjustment lever is on the transmission side of the seat.

I didn't put sliders on the passenger seat. I just made a similar bracket arrangement with four bolts going through the side of the seat. Don't forget the crotch strap needs to be securely mounted.

This is the non-adjustable passenger seat mount.

Jeff,

Great info. And thanks again for all of the photos - really helps. Are you using 3" angle iron? 1/8 or 3/16" thick? Did you maintain the same seat angle with the mounting? It looks like this will raise the seat a couple inches or more higher than if mounted directly. Did this change the "feel" of the seat? I am 6 foot 2, so it almost seems for me it would be better to be up off the floor. I know a lot of this will be "preference" but curious how this worked for you since you have been driving.

The straps I mounted to the floor are 1 1/2 wide by 1/8 thick and are made of steel. The side brackets are 3 X 3 and are 3/16 thick. I made the brackets from 2024T3 aluminum, but you could use steel. With the seat installed the front is approximately 2 3/4 off the floor. I angled the seat up in the front about 1/2 to 3/4 to add to the incline. I'm not sure that was necessary and may lower it in the future. I'm 5' 10" so the height off the floor is OK for me. I can see through the windshield fine and my head is below the roll bar. Most tall guys mount the seat directly on the floor and don't use sliders. Make sure you put the body on before you mount anything.

Jeff, I'm about ready to mount my seats but the question I have shows up in your last picture - the E-Brake handle opening. I've been looking through all my parts and the parts list and don't have a solution. Are you leaving all the gaps around the E-brake mount? I seems like a huge opening for nastiness.

Factory Five includes a black boot that covers that area pretty good.

Thanks, I woke up in the middle of the night thinking that was the solution I should have come up with before posting and it still might be but I sure can't find it in the parts or parts list. I've searched through all my remaining parts a couple of times this morning. One more check of the parts list and there it is - sitting in the carpet box. I'll blame it on the 115 degree heat were getting today in Phoenix!
