Steering column

I have a 2001 tilting and telescoping column in which I have already did all of the mods to fit the car and I was greasing up everything after cleaning up the metal shavings everywhere from drilling cutting etc and I slid the tube which lets you bolt the column to the car out too far, when I pushed it back the plastic ring that spaces the tube from the smaller telescoping tube got caught and broke. Can this be bought somewhere or is there a rebuild kit for the c5 steering column I can buy?

Never had to research such a thing, but I'd try the dealer to get some insight. Maybe they can print out an exploded diagram, and/or get you some part numbers. They've done that for me before without any hassle.

I have already got a diagram printed out and the problem I am running into is that they dont sell the parts from inside the telescoping jacket seperatly, they have diagrams of all of the other parts in the column exept the pieces inside the column jacket. This part is completely ignored in the exploded view.

They must sell it as an assembly. Of course, the last time I went to GM for some parts for my Corvette it was the long, dumb, deer in the headlights look. A parts guy at your local dealership should be able to identify the sub assembly you need.

I have looked into it and you can buy just the steering telescoping tube for 560 to get this bushing but C & S Corvette may be helping me on this if they have a column which is not salable.

Hi Jonathan,

I have a column but is not telescoping. Is the pacer that you are looking for the one that the steering sensor mounts on? Do you have a picture?
