View Full Version : Rear Axel Brackets - Holes for Shocks don't line up (Any ideas?)

Installing the brackets on the axel. I can get the short holes on the sides in without any problem, but neither of the rear holes (for the shocks) line up with the existing mount. I've tried pretty much everything I can think of short of reaming them. They are about half a hole off (Bracket sits high). I'm assuming the holes are in this spot so that the shock actually sits in the right place, but not sure how to get this shock bolt in.

Can anyone advise if I'm doing something incorrectly, or if these holes sometimes just are off thereby making reaming it a viable option. Or am i just lucky enough to have both brackets incorrectly drilled...

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a photo? If you mean the Trac Lock bracket try inserting the shock bolt first to align that hole then align the side holes.

What Tom said. Try installing the shock bolt first. Or at least, leave the others very loose. I have had to pry the bracket up or down with a crow bar or large swrewdriver to get it all lined up.

Thanks for the replies. I did some more searching, and rereading the manual from FF. Turns out this is a pretty common issue. We were able to get the holes pretty close, and then drilled the shock mount hole as per the instruction manual. Problem solved.
