I grew up in the 60's and the cool cars had wide tires on deep wheels. Today's wheels are all flat faced to clear brakes etc. This also lengthtens suspension componets, ie- rear end housing, front control arms, spindles. I want to build an old school look with painted wheels and stainless dog-dished hubcaps from my father's only new car. It was a 1968 Ford Custom 4 door, not sexy but it was fun to get my hands on while in high school. It had a strong running 302, just before smog laws messed it up and at 90,000 miles it is the engine I plan to build.
Back to preferred wheel , does anybody have spec for rear suspension mounting points, control arm demensions, spindle specs etc.????

Were you planning on running a straight axle or IRS?
When I was investigating my build, they suggested running pin-drive width so you could run deep-dish wheels.

Here's a couple posts that might help.

Talk to Richard Oben of North racecars, he's a vendor here and is THE wheel guru.

Thanks so much, I rally apreciate the reference links. Pin drive width up front, narrow rear housing 5 inches and then have my painted wheels made to the backspacing I need. I also have always loved the original American Racing Torque thrust wheels. the American Racing wheels arn't listed by application for Mustang running gear but would work in my application.
