So I've been lurking about for awhile now. Even went to the build school before I posted for the first time here. The whole time I've been quietly assembling a list of the parts/upgrades/options I want to put together for a build. I think I'm finally there, so here is what I have as far as shopping lists:
Factory Five
MkIV Complete Kit
IRS
Original seats
Halibrand 17x9 front / 17x10.5 rear wheels
Wilwood Front & IRS brake upgrade
Breeze Automotive
Aluminum fan shroud
Engine compartment battery box
Offset steering rack mounts
Forte's Parts Connection
Coyote 5.0 Engine
TKO 500 (TCET 5201)
Mid-shift conversion
Driveshaft safety loop
IRS knuckles/spindles/hubs
In-tank high pressure fuel pump
This is just the major highlights. I know I'll need the other secondary components like the engine control harness, bellhousing, clutch kit, etc. I just wanted to catch any glaringly obvious issues before I pulled the trigger.
I'm going to hold off ordering the engine and trans until I get the kit started to maximize the warranty on it. I doubt I'll put 20k miles on it in 2 years so it's more important to save time for me. That, and Tremec's warranty is only 180 days.
One other issue I'm trying to settle is hydraulic vs. mechanical clutch. I'd like to go with the hydraulic, I think. I just haven't done enough research on it yet.

Welcome!
Sounds like a good plan. What kind of driving are you planning on doing? Street, autocross, track?
Good idea on waiting on the drivetrain. If maximizing the warranty is your goal, give some thought to the bodywork and paint as part of the timeline.
That can sometimes take months, so do some research on that part of the build too.
Keep us posted!

Sounds like it will be a very nice build. Good luck.
(don't forget the solid mounts for the IRS pumpkin)
If you're going with the complete kit / wilwoods, I'd go with the hydraulic clutch too.
also consider the PS brakes and steering as well. ;)

Any suggestions on where to find the solid mounts? I was thinking hydraulic clutch. I wasn't planning on making that decision until later, but I realized its gonna matter if I need to locate a reservoir somewhere.
Depending on the length of the build I was hoping to get it into paint over the winter. If I get done with a little warm weather to spare ill probably just drive it around in gel coat.
As far as type of driving, the answer is "yes" I'm hoping to give her a shot at a little of everything.

Forte's Parts Connection has the soild mounts for the front of the IRS pumpkin and Mike can talk you through the pros and cons of a hydraulic vs. cable operated clutch. The driveshaft loop is a nice part; I actually have one on each u-joint for maximum safety. Also, you may not need the offset steering rack mounts to address bump steer with FFR's spindles. I frankly don't understand the bump steer issue all that well, but I have consistently read that you should confirm that you actually have a bump steer problem before altering the rack location. A search should bring up some discussions of that point. Good luck!

Thanks Jacob. I do need to look into the bump steer issue more. I started digging into the hydraulic clutch idea awhile back but it got put on the back burner while I worried about the bigger parts first and the timeline for the build. I'm finalizing my order with Rick on Monday, so then I can get down into the non F5 weeds to keep my mind off the kit so I don't change my order too many times.
I forgot to mention, I'm probably going with Fast Freddie's electro-hydraulic power steering setup. I like the clean setup, and I've only heard good things about it. Plus I'm building the kit in a 25x50 garage I have to share with at least 4 other vehicles. This will come in handy when everyone is shuffling cars around to get one out.
I might repost this with more detail, and a copy of my excel document I've been working on. Although right now it's extremely scatterbrained.

I have spent 3 to 4 weeks dealing with bump steer on my gen 2 type 65. According to FFR if you can get the bump steer under ¼” it is good enough but using standards I have used on my race cars for almost 50 years I would want less than .04” not .25”. I ended up making new steering arms and my own bump steer kit and got mine less than .01” in 2” of bump and 2” of rebound. I am willing to make new steering arms for anyone that is interested.

So I pulled the trigger last week. Completion date for my kit is supposed to be 28 July. The rub of it is that living in New Mexico means I'm probably close to, if not last to get a visit from Stewart for that batch. I even priced out airfare to visit FF that weekend and drive a Uhaul back. Not practical at all.
So here is what I settled on:
Complete Kit
Body cutouts done (half price, how can I argue with that)
Stock seats
Standard Width IRS
Halibrand Replica Wheels 17x9 front, 17x10.5 rear
Wilwood Brake Upgrade Kit
Gauges kit delete
Steering rack delete
Here's the plan for the rest:
Coyote 5.0, TKO 500 mid-shift & hydraulic clutch
Fred's EHPS kit with AZ 2.5 turn STS rack
Speedhut GPS Speedo, Tach, and Quad gauge (probably going to have crazy extra space on the dash... open to the idea of a glovebox now)
Breeze fan shroud, engine compartment battery box, and offset steering rack mounts
Forte drive shaft safety loop
Russ Thompson turn signal system
(and all of the extra coyote tidbits)
Body buck is built
Frame stand built (casters in the mail)
I have the electronic manual and a hard copy from the build school. I have probably gone over them at least a dozen times (and also the coyote fitment manual). Besides reading them a dozen more, any other suggestions for the next month?
