how much paint???

Hi all,
I was wanting to pick up the paint soon and thought I don't know how much to get. I wanted enough to do the body well and have some extra left just in case. I also wanted to get enough to do the engine block and tranny. Would I need a gallon? More? Less? Help please. Many thanx.

Stripes or not? what type/brand of paint? Depends also on the mix ratio. most base coats will be 2 to 1 (paint to reducer),so 1/2 gallon of paint will get you 3 quarts of paint after adding the reducer. That is plenty to color the body and have left overs. A pint or even a 1/2 pint will get your stripes done. a gallon of clear to cover the car......of which you'll only use 1/2.
