Starting on the front suspension this morning and found two different style ball joints in my kit. The came out of similar boxes but clearly different parts. Does anyone have a clue to what \ why FFR sent me 2 different parts? I'm assuming this is a mistake on their part and will call them tomorrow but that doesn't help me today!

The picture on the left is the one that goes on the front upper control arm (I hope). I got the base kit and it is the one that came with it. It screws in properly and gives proper camber/caster. Did you get the complete kit? I'm not sure what the other ball joint is for.

If I had to guess, I would say that they both will work. One is just desinged different. Do they both screw in? The one with the raised grease cup may interfere with the inside of your wheel.

Perhaps you got one from a different kit and one from a mk4 kit?

Only the flat top ball joint went on without trouble. The raised cap ball joint only made it a few turns before it wouldn't go any farther.

That is a bit odd for sure, but I don't think Factory Five did it intentionally, its possible the wrong part was in the box from the factory. You could give FFR a call, or if you really want to get the front suspension done, the part is a Moog K772 ball joint and should be available locally for around $25.

It maybe the part was packed wrong from the supplier. If it were me I would want the ball joints to be the same in appearance. (New build and all.) Call FFR nad return it or hit the local parts store to pick one up. Less time wasted waiting on parts. :D
