This post grows out of a email sent to Dave Smith. His reply was Holy S**T I think that's the fastest Roadster .My best time on fathers day was 8.987 at 156 and change 60 ft time was 1.25 .I ran in the 8's on three passes. The best thing was 4 tech inspectors checked out the car and not one could say anything about the frame or the car setup. There only comment was get a chute. Since the first trip I added a top fuel style roll cage . Since the first trip we altered the setup on the car by lowering it to a three inch ride height, installing a skid plate under the car to cut down on air getting under it , Chin splitter on the front and a removable cover in front of the radiator to keep air out of the engine compartment this really helped with keeping the nose down at half track to the lights. I also went to skinny tires and smaller rims on the front again to keep rolling resistince down. The other change was going to school .Frank Hawly's drag racing school . If you get the chance go. They let me use the Cobra in the school and thats where the improvements came from. They even let me in there shop to make changes while I was there.

So are you going to get a chute?@!? I think you need one. I've heard that around 160 the Cobra can become an unidentified flying object. How about some video. Thanks, WEK.

You must be that fast because it was an "Anniversary Car". The silver frame must be quick silver! If I knew the anniversary cars were that fast I would have ordered my kit last year:p

What's your feed back on the Levy 5-link? Has it made a big difference?

Keep smoking em!

First what do I think of the five link. The guys at the school liked it .Its easy to adjust and does what its advertised to do .I never made a pass or drove it with the three link so a comparison is impossible for me to make. I hope that answers your question. Take in consideration I'm only going straight .They also pointed out some improvements if I were to use it strictly as a drag car. That being said my experience with Gorden was less than stellar and that's all I'm saying on that. As for photos or Video its tough to drive and take pictures and my wife is still saying "I won't watch you kill your self " .We video the launch but that's all and there not very good. Next trip will be better as a few other friends will be going and I won't have tech issue's and inspections all day .When you a nobody unload and make a low 10 pass as a warm up .Tech people just seem to come out like cockroaches after dark. They were just doing there job I understand and they back off after there inspection .Having just completed the school I think was a big help too .Dave and the guys build a hell of a chassis. The photo is of the chin splitter fitting.Dave has asked for photo's as well and weather permitting I plan on taking some this weekend. Sorry to all. Just don't laugh its still under construction . Body and paint is next starting in July.

I had intended to post photos and video of car today as had planned another trip to the strip on Sunday. So much for the best laid plans. For again my luck has changed again. For while standing up in a friends wedding saturday evenning I had a heart attack and am currently in the hospital awaiting either a angioplasty or bypass surgery this morning. I had no real warning as I had just had a full physical before going to the drag racing school in Florida last month.

Man...and I thought I hated going to weddings! Good luck with the surgery. It's amazing that we live in a world where that kind of stuff is considered pretty routine. I wonder if I can schedule a preemptive bypass. I'm sure I'm about due. BTW, don't post any video from the surgery. I don't want to vomit on my keyboard.

Bill you drive one of the fastest Roadsters ever on a drag strip.....then you have this happen at a wedding. What are the odds. The reaper has tried everything with you. He must be in a bar right now drinking away..... feeling like he lost his edge!!! You're one heck of a fighter!!! Love you Brother, call me when you can.

Well. I worked in healthcare for my whole career so I have been close to the process you are going through (blood banker in a hospital). I hope you do well. Now days, this is more like going in for a minor tuneup where as years past it was a very dangerous thing indeed (still dangerous but outcomes are much better with all the good technology). Get well quick so we can hear about 3, 4, 5, and 6 trips to the strip! Good luck, WEK.

I got it from Mike Forte's thru his first offering. Only had to do a little trimming to get it to fit.

Enough about the car for a minute. So you posted an answer to a tech question but all I want to know is how are YOU doing?

As of now I'm home doing fine and am also the proud owner of three new stints which probably cost me as much as my motor. The stints are in the area of the heart often called the widow maker. You usually don't know you have a problem till your in the ER or morgue according to my doc. I ignored some of the symptoms and some were missed at the physical for the racing school. please don't be like me if something doesn't feel right get it check out. There's inexpensive tests out there that can prevent this. Hitting the floor at your friends wedding was not fun and put a dampner on there party. I'm laughing at it now but i scared a lot of people and made a memoir the bride did not want.
