Hi guys I just installed the front suspension, cholks, spindles ect but the book dosent say how far to adjust the koni cholks. How much do I tighten the top ring the screws up or down. That has small set screws on the sides.

That ring controls the ride height. With the wheels at full droop, tighten the ring until it just makes contact with the spring. That'll give you a starting place. Once the wheels are all on it, drop the car and measure to the bottom of the 4" main rail to find your ride height. Adjust from there, keeping in mind that a half inch of thread on the shock is roughly an inch of ride height.

But also remember, you don't set the final ride height till the car is done. The added weight of the engine, trans and so on, will affect the ride height.

Ok so then I should just snug it to the spring and leave it for now ? Also is there a special tool it seems the ring has holes to adjust with a special tool

There is a spanner wrench from Koni for their shocks that will work. You can probably adjust it by hand pressure, try that before buying one (I mocked mine up to 4 3/4 ride height by hand knowing that it would change with the motor in). Also, don't screw the set screws in too tightly as it will damage the threads, this from the instructors at the build school. I haven't done final adjustment or tightening yet as I haven't installed the engine/transmission.

Two thoughts. 1- back those set screws out and throw them in the trash. They mess up the threads which makes it harder to adjust later and there is NO tendency for these things to move on their own.2. Count the number of threads exposed beyond the adjuster collars and maek sure the left = the right. They may be different front to rear but should be the same side to side.

Whats a cholk?
My thoughts....spanner wrench was a waste for me. You can turn them by hand, and there really isnt a lot of room for the wrench once the car is built. Also, I wish I had glued the threaded collar to the shock, that way turning the adjuster would be a one hand job. (did i just type "one hand job"...thats funny)

Adjustable by hand depends on spring rate and ride height. Usually my springs have maybe 1/8 inch play w/ the car jacked by the frame so I can adjust by hand. Some combinations of softer springs I have tried over the years required that there be preload on the springs to maintain height. Then i needed a tool to adjust.
