I purchased my roadster several months ago and it was equipped with a Mallory Comp S/S 42 series distributor and a Pertronix Flame-Thrower II coil (Carb E.C #D-57-10, 0.6 ohm). Last week I drove the car up my street and the engine suddenly died and would not start. After getting it back home I checked for spark and there was none. After doing some research on the Mallory10265 web site I discovered that it was the magnetic breakerless module that was bad. I also discovered that the car should have been equipped with a ballast resistor and there was none. I ordered a new magnetic breakerless module #609, ballast resistor #700, circuit guard #29371 and ignition coil #29219. I installed all these components yesterday and took the car for a test drive. While driving the car under load around 2000 RPM, the exhaust pops and back fires. The car starts fine and when the car is stationary and I open the throttle the engine revs fine without hesitation or back firing. It only appears to be while driving under load especially around 2000 RPM. I pulled out one of the spark plugs to inspect and it looks to be very white. It is equipped with Autolite 3924 gapped at .032". Attached is a picture. Do you have any advice?
