Hey guys im going to be building a new mark 4 cobra, now for those of you who had someone build it for you what did you pay for labor per hour. Im just trying to see what a fair hourly rate is for a project such as this. Also how many hours did it take them to build the car minus paint and body wor
also i was wondering what you guys have spent on the motors. id like to do a 427 either keith craft or ford racing. im estimating 15-16 for the craft one with trans and about 19ish for the ford. does this sound right. it will prob have a t-56 trans as well
thanks

I charge $40.00 per hour. This includes (at times) 2 people and most small supplies. Caulking, rivets, nuts and bolt etc. it takes me about 200 hours to complete a Roadster minus paint.

In that case, add on another 10-20k above what was listed above if you're trying to find somebody up here. (seriously)
In the US there are a lot of competent builders and bodyshops and they'll work for cheap. Up here, not so much so. Especially when it comes to bodywork - it's like pulling teeth finding a shop that's willing to do it and can do it properly. That's why a lot head down to the US for paint/bodywork.
Myself, I wouldn't have anything done in the US - I'd have nightmares about Transport Canada seizing it when trying to get it back in the Canada.

thats what im afraid of the costs gettn stupid. im worried they are gonna charge 70plus a hr rate and want over 10k to do the paint.

Paint and bodywork cost me about 14k up here. But I had to pay because most of the bodywork jobs i've seen locally are **** and I didn't want to be redoing it again and again until I was satisfied. it also wasn't worth it (to me) to have the hassle of sending the car to an experienced pro in the US.
Not trying to discourage you, just making sure you realize that when people in the US are quoting you those prices you realizes they arn't that comparable up here for comparable work, unless you happen to get really lucky.

Hi Punisher. Where in Canada are you located? You should try to get together with some local builders, they would have advice on local shops and pricing.
Cheers
