I was thinking about working with some ideas for Logos, Emblems, T-shirts etc. for either fun or maybe in actual items that could be used, say in promotional ideas etc.

This gives me something to do until FFR finalizes their first 818 they plan on putting out.....lol

Can always add the final design under or where it needs to be to the artwork etc.

So if you have any ideas, go ahead and post them, would like to see what some ideas people might have.

Here are some of my ideas so far, some have already seen these in the T-shirt thread.

On this one I was thinking about taking out the "Pure" part, and replacing the ...going to extremes with Redefined.

Another one

Something to do in the meantime until FFR comes out with the first design :)

So have some fun! and see what some can come up with.

I prefer the first one, and like the "Adrenaline Redefined" wording better, myself. However, both are nice looking. You have talent!

Thanks Xusia :), I will be changing that soon.

I was thinking about the 818 project name, since they, us, whomever really hasn't come up with an official name yet, I am thinking 818 just might work. For the most part most of us here have gotten use to 818. For me I say leave the 818, it works, kind of like how Porsche uses numbers.

Anyhoot, just a thought :)

How about a design for the forum itself that we could have one of our vendors produce?

:)

That would be a pretty cool idea. That would help out the vendor, which could in return help out the FFR forum :)

I gather you are talking about the 818 forum, or are you talking about the overall FFR forum?

Why not both? I'm thinking of the overall forum though.

I bet Legend Lines would be up for it.

Sounds good to me. Just got me thinking about each main forum here having their own Logo......hmmm, I might have to ponder on that for a while.

I like that thought as well, you know I have some t-shirts from some other forum I am on a bunch, but not from this one.

I can always use more T shirts. I have a number of FFR shirts but a forum specific one sounds like a great idea. I'm in for an 818 forum shirt too.

Don't forget about ideas for a emblem/badge that could be used on the car. Also maybe some kind of artwork say for a poster.

I am kind of working with a emblem/badge idea, as well as some other ideas.

I am looking forward to see what some others come up with, we have a lot of talented people here :)

Hey Guys
Sorry to haven't jump in the thread before, ... I haven't been in the forum for the last few days.
Great thread Vman7, I love it!

To respond to David:
- “I bet Legend Lines would be up for it” -
Of course I’m in, I’ll be proud to help and share my expertise! Count me in!
We use very high quality blank T-shirts – 100% pre-shrunk heavy cotton, and the best of all: They are made in the USA!
Great talented people in here, I'm sure we'll have a killer TS
The screen-printing could be done in 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 or more colors, but ... read below.

That’s being said, I would like to share some technical advices on how to design the 818 and Factory Five Forum’s Logos and on the screen-printing process. Legend Lines is a side business, my main business is advertising, and very humbly, I would like to help a bit.

First of all I think we should start by designing the 818 and Factory Five Forum logos. Once the logos are approved by the voting community (?), then we should design the TS and the emblem. And the posters and the billboards and the watches and the private jet...

Designing a Logo
Apart from the creative aspect, designing a logo has to follow few simple rules:
1/DO NOT COPY OR ADAPT YOUR ART FROM AN EXISTING LOGO, get inspired by the feel, the colors, BUT DO NOT COPY: This could result in a very expensive lawsuit and if not, it is morally wrong. There is no way for FFR or the Forum to trace the origin of your artwork. So start from scratch and let’s making it 100% original
2/ A logo got to be design using 1 Color only. Even if the final design includes several colors at the end, the base of the Logo got to work using 1 color.
3/ Keep it simple and recognizable. Do not overuse effects that are available in your software. First to follow rule 2 and second it may over kill your design! A good logo is not made off effects but off a clever design.
4 and last advice: Do not make it too complicated, that when it’s scale down it got lost. A logo got to look sharp and good on a small business card as well as on a huge billboard.

Designing a T-Shirt.
The logo is done, let’s design some T-shirts! – Well, there are also few rules to know:
1/ The more colors you use in your design, the more money you’ll spend printing it! A twelve color TS will cost a fortune to print!
2/Gradient and screen-printing are not best friends. It is possible to print gradients on a TS, but the result will be far from what you saw on your screen! The “dots” are not that small. They kind of look like the black & white pictures on an old newspaper. Avoiding gradients and using “solid” colors is the best. The TS is sharper and more resistant to washes.
3/ Printing on dark TS implied using a base coat.
4/ The minimum weight of a line is 1 pt, below it may become too thin.

Let's the fun begins and good luck everyone.

Hey, I'd like to affirm VeniceCobra is spot-on.Admittedly, a logo and a t-shirt design are not necessarily the same but most logos I see are, in my opinion, way too complicated. A good logo might be shrunk down and put in the corner of a business card, enlarged onto a billboard, or embroidered onto a shirt. I had a professor who insisted if someone couldn't generate a reasonable facsimile with a magic marker, the logo was too detailed. Also, I recommend designing approximately equal height and width. This week I was building a matrix of mobile phone manufacturer logos for a website; each was reduced be no larger than 50 x 50 pixels. Most were fine although a few of the wider ones were significantly less identifiable. Happy designing.

VeniceCobra Well said! Glad you chimed in :) I pretty much use the same guidelines for designing Logos for people, I tell them the old saying "Less is More" or KISS (keep it simple Stupid)

Just to clarify the above 818 Adrenaline design is for a poster not a T-shirt, the one for a T-shirt has less detail in Adrenaline and lens flare.

Now that we have some really good pictures of the 818R, I am going to start working on some kind of poster of the 818R.

I would like one with both cars on it. At least I could look at it in my barn till the kit arrives. Also I would love to buy T-shirt and hat with 818 on it soon.
