Is Jeff taking aim on the guy in the hat? Is he about to poke Jeff in the eye with a sharp stick? What the heck is going on anyway?

Looks like somebody has a lot of faith in someone else's camera equipement!

I'm guessing a camera mount?
Maybe full metal jousting in a roadster ;)

Looks like he is getting ready to take a sound byte of the motor at speed.

OK, here is what came next:

My autocross buddy Aaron (AJ) White does pro photography and asked if I'd let him do some magazine style stills as well as rolling shots to add to his portfolio. I said "Sure!" and got even more intrigued when he started telling me about his "car rig". He just sent me the first few teasers from the ~300 shots he took.
Here is the setup and result of another couple moving pics with the rig:

Given the look of my car he wanted to have what he called a "dark and gritty" backdrop so he chose the old run down warehouse district for the shoot. He's only sent me one still so far but I think it's a good one!

He used a variety of filters and incorporated HDR on many so I can't wait to see what else he got! AJ is very talented; check out a little sampling of his other automotive work here:

Wow those shots are awesome!
When I saw the rig I did not know how it was possible to get a shot without getting the rig in the shot. I guess Photoshop is your friend?
Not that Photoshop takes anything away. It’s just another tool to create a mood just like film and exposure were in the past.
Do I sense a picture of the month winner here?
Thanks for sharing.

why wouldn't a tripod be easier for the head-on shot? or was it moving, and they photoshopped out the driver too?

...or was it moving...
Moving---look at the road, buildings and wheels. His rig keeps the camera, which he triggers with a remote, stationary with the vehicle.
Fun stuff! I just talked to him and he said he has lots more that he's editing.

Very cool stuff Jeff, neat set-up, and I guess no worries with the suction cups :-)
Love the still shots. For the moving... I always imagined hanging out of the back of a truck to do those shots... his method is probably safer lol.

That's what I suspected, but I've seen that "moving" effect done to a still photo before. Either way that is BADA$$
I'm originally from Fort Wayne. Think he could take some pictures of mine... after I get it built... and after I get it up that way from New Mexico? haha

AJ sent me some more; a few moving plus a lot of detail shots and stationary. This one is pretty simple but I really like it:

I think he was right on target using the "gritty" environment for my no bling car.
I'll share others when I have time to upload them.

Jeff, I wouldn't call it a no bling car I would call it mean, nothing wrong with that :-) I keep thinking that somewhere down in the meat packing district of NYC would be a great place to shoot my car one of these days maybe I'll actually get down there and do it.
