Will an MK4 Rollbar fit an MK3 without modifications or welding?
I believe the MK4 rollbar is 1.5" compared to the 2" Mk3, MK2, MK1 rollbar, I thought I remembered reading that the MK4 rollbar would fit inside the previous MKs' rollbar mount if you wanted to run the smaller diameter.
Do I have this correct?

The answer is yes, the MKIV roll bar will fit inside the MKIII tubes welded onto the chassis. There is a fair amount of grinding needed at the base of the roll bar. to fit them inside but they do fit and it will work just fine.

Yes. You may have to do some grinding on the bottom to get it inside the mounts but they should fit just fine.

And here is what a Mk4 bar looks like with a Mk3.1 body. I can attest to Brian's statement above - I used a brake cylinder hone inside the stubs on the chassis and just some sandpaper to smooth down the lower couple of inches on all three legs, then sent it off for plating.
