Hello Everyone,

For a couple different reasons I am looking to see if it is possible to have the exhaust mounted under the car? I've also seen a few posts regarding some people setting up dual exhaust, and the direction of the exhaust can be changed by a switch.

Looking for some input.

Regards,
Dave

The use of electric dumps has been around a long time, check Speedway and others for them. One consideration is that some vehicle codes may not allow them (during inspection or if you get caught later.) There's also the actual difficulty and weight penalty of having two separate exhaust systems - but it can be done. Most have the dumps hooked up downstream with short turnouts just before the mufflers. Problematic with roadster exhaust.

Two ways to route undercar - down the rocker panels, or between the tubes. One obstacle is the transmission crossmember tube. There are lots of pics and posts of some modifying it, others make convoluted pipes to pass around it to keep ground clearance. The next challenge is where to stuff the mufflers.

I have my own idea, but fantasy mods aren't all that. One of the more successful search techniques I've used is to surf for pictures, then hop to the post. It really cuts down on the hundreds of pages of hit based trash. Google doesn't search well by content.

Like this: http://www.google.com/search?sugexp=chrome,mod%3D6&q=ffcars.com%3A%20undercar%20exhaust&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=TPjVT9WFO4ee2QXzws28Dw&biw=1137&bih=572&sei=UPjVT6WaHYTW2AX3stmmDw

And I still haven't figured out why it pulls up pictures of President Reagan. That's Google.

Under car exhaust is very doable. We have 6-8 under cars. We use IRS for this mostly. You have about 2" to work with. Let us know if we can help

Under car exhausts are a great idea. The only downside is that with the restricted space, you end up with a restricted flow because of the narrower pipes you have to use.

Then again, driving along at 70mph with the exhaust 3ft from your ear isn't much fun after a while. There are a few solutions - avoid the one that goes through the 4" pipes.

Very doable and is a great idea. But I do have to agree with him that it limits your exhaust system and exhaust tip (http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/shop_brands/corsa.html) that could be a bad thing for your car. But hey, If you're not running around with on a high speed, then it should be ok.
