Hello everyone. I posted something similar on the "other" forum as well.
Eight years ago this week I picked up my Mk.II. I'm happy to say that it is now ready for paint. My good friend & co-builder Dave & I drove from Calgary, Canada to Yuba City, California so that Ken (Streetrod Painter) could make it look pretty. The distance was 1203 miles. I only had a total of 560 when we left. For the most part the car ran well.

The weather was fine until we started heading south of the Columbia River, then the rain hit! We spent the first night in Madras, Or. A VERY big thank you to the girl at the hotel that let us park under their entrance.

Heres a link to the route we took. https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=C...mra=ls&t=m&z=8
The scenery was great & we met some nice people on the way.

I have never been that cold & wet in my life. We had to sponge up the water off the floor every time we stopped for fuel. I'm glad I dropped the floor on on the passenger side. It made for a great bucket.
It was the first time that I had put the wiper blades on the car. They don't seem to fit well. With every stroke they would run over the chrome on the windshield frame. I also goofed somewhere with the wiring. The park function works but they stop on the extend stroke. When OFF the blades are sticking almost straight up.
I was very glad to have a co-pilot on the trip! Dave did most of the navigating using his iPhone. He used to own a MkI & has built two other as well.
Heres a link to some video he took. This was on the I5 just north of Redding, CA.

A big thanks to Ken for staying open late so we could park the roadster & drive to San Francisco to fly home. I'm excited to see what she looks like when done.
Will post pictures & a proper completion post when I get her home.
Take care.
Andrew

Hi C6ZZ,

You and your fellow builder are "hard core"!! Here in Arizona we normally call the Canadians who come down, Snowbirds but in your case yo've got to be some kind of duck. Can't wait to see some more pics. Good luck, WEK.

Ken will do a great job! and you pretty much know all the costs up front with no big surprise at the end. I know you enjoyed the I-5 part of the trip, such a nice road!
