Engines In. One man and a will to get it done

I was planning to install the engine next Saturday with the help of Henry and a few other friends. I have been prepping the engine and decided to give it a shot today.Taking the planning advice from The Stig and Henry alone with the forum, I went for it. It took about an hour because I had to remove the alternator and finally the water pump, but it's in. I have the rear held up by a strap and 2x4 for now. I'll install the tranaxle this Friday. Just me working slow and methodically.

Sweet! Great job Vidal! That was a BIG milestone for me. Getting the engine, and then transmission, into the chassis, made it seem much more real to me. Congrats!

Nope. I used the leveler and angled the engine down at the front. I pointed the AC compresser toward the front of the car and lowered it under the bar. I then supported the engine with 2x4s and swapped the leveler for the chain. Then i just lowered it slowly until the mount studs just touched the frame. I then pullled it from the front to get the studs into the holes. I tryed with the alternator and water pump on. I had to remove the alternator first thing. The water pump came off about 20 minutes later.

I was able to get mine in with the lower accessories on, but ONLY because I had my wife there to help keep it steady, and turn it as I lowered it into the frame... She'll try most anything to help out...

Mine went in with all accessories on, except the exhaust headders. I had to cut about 1/2 inch off the right motor mount bolt. It did take me most of the morning working alone.
