Okay, I am trying to install the rear corner (outboard) aluminum panels in my coupe, but I am having much trouble with these. Don't seem to fit well; even after flatening them out a bit they still push up against the square chasis tube that cuts across the back-middle of the panel. I am sure others have had problems....any advice would be appreciated. Please send pictures if you can.
Thanks

The pictures do not look that dramatic, but I expected the aluminum to fit better. The coupe manual appears to show pictures of the roadster, so that does not help much. Just wondering how you made these fit? Seems I need to just remake the pieces myself or cut and rebend these. I recently built an all aluminum plane thus I am a bit frustrated with the crappy fit of these panels.

I am having the same problems and the manual in of little help. Mine appear to be bent 30-40 degrees to far.

I remember those plates. They were a pain in the arse. I had trouble with those, the rear wall and the three pieces at the back of the trans tunnel. I'm pretty sure if I had fitted them at the same time that I fitted the footbox aluminum but before nailing anything down it would have worked better. My problem was that the passenger footbox aluminum fit nicely but could have been realigned a little to make the passenger floor fit better which would have made those rear pieces fit better. So far the aluminum panel fitment has been the only part of my build that I'm not totally satisfied with.

Also,
I remember bending the flanges on those panels so that they would fit better. I sandwiched the flange completely between two thin strips of wood and clamped the wood into a desktop vice and then carefully applied pressure as close to the bend as possible and as uniformly as possible to slowly adjust the angle. There's probably a better way though.
Good luck

Before you go any further with those panels, decide whether you will put the body in front of them or behind them. The inside of the rear fender occupies some of the same space as that piece.
I left mine off until the body was ready to go on, then fit them. I did have to "adjust" some angles and trim it a bit in the bottom inside corner.

The coupe build mantra.....
Everything almost fits. Sometimes it's easiest to get all but one of them to fit nice and clean and then make a new one for the last panel.

It’s good to know I am not alone.

I think I have a fix that seems to work on mine. I placed the corner panel so that it fit at the top and marked the back side of the panel
where it hit the diagonal tube. I then bent along that line until the bottom edge of the corner panel matched up with the floor panel.

I just decided to make templates out of poster board, then cut and bend new panels. It is a much easier fix then messing with the originals. Problem solved. But you think someone at FFR would have noticed this at some point. Oh well.
Thanks everyone,

I had the same problem and ended up making new ones.
Scott is correct, if you install them before you put the body on part of the rear wheel well covers half the panel. I installed the body and didn't like the look or the fit and pull them off. I'll probably end up make a new set.
FYI, the build manual actually shows the panels being installed AFTER the body is installed.

I put the back panel in front of the side this helped some , but was still a pain
