Nice. I did something similar for the roadster, and the resulting reality of the cost, along with the lack of weatherization, dissuaded me from buying one.
I'm really hoping the 818 is different. The target build price of $15k is a good one, and I'm budgeting another $5k for those things you just can't predict.

I budgeted an 818 with a built ej205 pushing 350whp for 22k. Not too bad IMO. Everything of course is over calculated for the unknown.

My donor with no motor was 2k, the parts to rebuild the spindles and new better stuff, ie: wilwood brakes, aluminum front control arms, whiteline rear lateral links and control arms, bushing, rebuild rack etc, like 3k. A jdm version 8 sti engine 4k and another 1500 in extra parts that might come up. Now plus the 10k kit price. So like 20,500 or so. So it will have 325-375whp with a nice tune and stop on a dime, for 20k. With that power to weight and a good rim and tire set up 0-60 could get down to a low 3 or better, and solid 11 sec passes. I am getting happy lol

Don't forget that you could drive that kind of car to and from the track... I am also excited to drive this car! Bring on the go cart vids!

You and I have similiar mindsets sir. How exactly are you planning on sourcing your donor. I'm looking into NA imprezas myself.

I searched the local craigslist and found one with no motor for 2k like two months ago. I already striped it and sold the parts i don't need ( trunk, doors,, headlights and tails even the roof cut off). I have made 1,500 back and the car came with the 2004 5x100 sti wheels in decent shape on it. I thought about an impreza, but it just popped up. You wanna put new bearings, hubs, ball joints and clean up all spindles, I bead blasted and painted them semi-gloss rust-oleum. Its seems to hold up very good after they are blasted. I ordered aluminum front control arms, they should be in this week. I de-powered the steering rack and put new inner and outer tie rods, and boots. I am currently working on the back knuckles and aluminum oxide blasting the tranny. I am getting the whiteline rear laterial links and rear control arms. I am going to get the wilwood brake kit from FFR. My JDM STI V8 engine has been ordered and I grabbed JDM STI cluster that goes to 8k rpms. I want bride seats but will wait a bit unless a good deal comes along. I am also blasting the wheels to seal an re-paint a dark silver or something.
I sure hope that it is useful in building your vehicle. And after your done a record on what was installed.
If you look at what I have done I also have notes to myself in it.

That's probably pretty close. I'm hoping to keep it under $17,000 but your number is probably closer once you add up all the stuff you couldn't foresee. $3700 for donor (counting shipping) + $2,500 for engine rebuild + $10,000 for kit is what I know I'll spend. If I don't care for the paint, replace the WRX seats, add air conditioning, etc it's going to go up from that number pretty quickly.

Wow! You guys are going to have yours built before I get mine ordered!
(Planning ahead is something I've never been good at.)
This is the best way to plan ahead, at least for the major costs. Keep in mind that there are always little things that you can forget. Time allotted for this is another thing all together, when you not working on it. It will seam to take forever.
Hope this helps.

Does anyone have an idea what the cost to deliver a kit to Florida would be? I would like an idea so I can decide if I want to pick it up at FFR or not.

I would call the transport company that FFR uses, they would know how much. The big thing is if you want it really fast it could cost more, but if you let them get more cars on the truck they can reduce the cost by making deliveries on the way.
