I am working on a customers 33 and have found the cable operated door latches to be more trouble than they are worth. Both the inner and outer handles operate at different ratios, making it very hard to get both to pull the latch. One is very sensitive and one you have to really yank on to get it to work. My solution? Electric door openers. I installed a remote door popper system, but still wanted to be able to open the doors with out the remote. I added a small momentary on switch right behind the inside handle that operates the popper.

You can see the door popper inside the door in this picture. It is cable operated and simply pulls on the latch when the button is pushed.

on the outside handles it got a little more tricky. I didnt want the handle to rotate, so it is locked in place with a set screw. I then removed the lock cylinder and made a adapter that would hold another small switch.

Here is the handle with the adapter and switch installed. The wires will run rigth through the handle.
Just push the button and the door opens.
