I cannot tell you how many time I've been asked the following question:

How many cans of spray paint do you think it would take to paint an FFR?

So, as an experiment with a car that should have been picked up on Friday and we now have the answer.

It takes 11 full, properly shook cans of Duplicolor to paint an FFR roadster .

Now you know why he should have picked it up on Friday (70 degrees and sunny). I warned him, but he wouldn't listen............

PS: At least I kept with the owners theme of painting it really, really, really cheap :D

Hey Bill,

Looks like Cheapsk8's car. I bet he'll enjoy that color ;) At least it's one color...

That brings back old memories of when I was stationed in Alaska with the Air Force and was into Volkswagen Beetles. Made the mistake of buying one in the dark winter and found out in the spring that the fenders were all different colors. So, I painted it outdoors with 12 cans (laid it on heavy) of light green Rustoleum. It was truely a work of art.

Somebody must have really loved my craftsmanship because it was stolen about 3 months later. Never saw it again.

Thanks for the memories. Ralph.

Here is the finished project, it's actually a "two case" paint job.

I remember the 1st car I built was when I was 18 and it was a '27 T-Bucket. Cheaped out on everything (didnt have any money) 305 Chevy out of a junk yard Impala. I chromed up the motor and put some fresh aerosol orange on it and thought it looked good so I bought 6 cans of blue spray paint and did the body. It turned out great and the whole car looked pretty good. Sold it to a guy and made a good chunk of change. Saw it about a year later and the Kansas sun had turned the blue paint sort of a chulky white oxidation color and as he went on down the street it was smoking like hell. Very small town and can't believe he never came back on me. Guess he was happy.

I painted a 1984 Jeep CJ-7 with Krylon once. It was a great 10-foot paint job. I figured it was going to be a trail vehicle and get scratched/banged around off-road so I just wanted it easy to touch up.
