So I don't know about anyone else but I HATE adjusting valve lash. It's not that it is hard it is just that I find it a pain to be sure that the crank is in the correct position for each set of valves. Not sure about the rest of you but I have too much stuff in the way to be able to spin my crank 90 degrees in one shot and always have to do it in two steps. I have yet to make two full revolutions and have the timing mark set back on zero so I created the attached template which helped me greatly so I thought I would share.
To start, I remove the distributor cap and rotate the crank until the rotor is pointing near #1. I then watch the timing marks and adjust the crank until I am dead on the TDC mark.
Once this is done, I place the template over the distributor as shown in the pic below and use it to guide me as I turn the crank to achieve TDC for each cylinder.
