I'm debating if I should go with a standard T5 or a T5 with the S10 tailshaft which moves the shifter forward 8". So if you have pics of the cockpit showing the position of the shifter I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Here's a pic of my finished cockpit with the standard T5 (z actually, but doesn't matter for this) shift location. Other than the fact that it's (maybe) a little odd looking vs. a more forward and straight standing shifter, it actually works just fine and is a complete non-issue while driving the car. The shifting is fine and you don't even realize or feel the angle. Besides, it's more in keeping with the original. Personally, if you're going to use a T5, I'd use the standard one and spend your time and budget elsewhere.
Note this is a pretty high-res pic. Make sure to click to open the thumbnail, then again to go to full size. Gives a good view. Also note in this picture, I think it's in second. So that's about as far vertical as it goes. Neutral and 1-3-5 are farther forward.

Bill, I have exactly what you describe and my transmission cover is off so I'll take a pic and post it for you.

It's a cell phone pic, but it'll give you an idea of where it fits in the tunnel:

Perfect Dave. So you have the S10 tailshaft? It looks like it. That's what I need.
Thanks again!!

Bill, I didn't like the way the FFR handle caused the shifter boot to bind so I made my own. I bent it not only forward but closer to the driver so the hand falls right on the shifter ball. Mine is polished stainless but I have made a few for others out of steel and chrome plated them. Car is in neutral in this picture BTW.

I don't think the S10 is worth doing.I honestly don't notice any wierdness at all w/ the FFR shifter. I switch between my 5 speed civic and my wife's 5 speed Mustang and the FFR w/ no need to change my style of driving. I did get a leather shift boot from Mike Everson.

x2. The picture I put in post #3 is with Mike's shift boot. Also his shift ball. Niece pieces. The shift lever is the standard part from FFR.

I'm in the same camp as Edward and Craig. Standard T5 setup on both cars:
