Well with my new family responsablity Im looking at selling the Roadster. Just doesnt look like I will be able to save the money for engine and other costs with taking on the Grandkids and legal cost that comes with custody. I have done the panels, rear and front end. It would come with the Mosser rearend, with disc brakes and a TKO 600 trans. Just trying to see if there is any intrest out there to buy it. I have given $850 deposit on a engine and would love to have a military type buy so that I can give him that credit.

You know if you wanted to keep it and build it, I bet a few people might be willing to pitch in and help. I know I would. Its the least I could do. Just throwing it out there.

It took me 6 years before I had paint on mine. I drove it for 2 years until I had the money to finish it. Why not treat it like a hobby (like I did) and just take your time, buying things as you need them instead of up front?
Whatever you decide, we're here to help. Good luck...

Dave,
If there's any way you can just move it aside and put-off working on it for a while (months, years, whatever), please try to do so. There are many here who would gladly help you on the little no-cost projects that could serve as a sanity-check during that time. There is so much you can do with the kit without actually spending money or much time, and it would be a shame to have to face starting over someday (if ever). While it may be tempting to convert it to cash in the short term, I truly hope you can avoid having to do that.
If you can keep it, but storage space is a problem, maybe someone here can offer shop space to keep it "out of sight and out of mind" until your life takes a turn back to normal and you can start on it again. I have a hangar here in northern Illinois that you'd be welcome to keep it in, but it's probably too far to be economical to get it here.
All the best, man.

When the economy tanked, mine basically sat for two years until I was at a point I could move forward with my build. It took me 4 years before I got it on the road, plus another before paint. Now the economy is messing with me again but I still have my car without any kind of payment. I'm willing to work weekends and nights to pay for insurance and gas. Don't stress about putting a huge money engine in your build, I have $750 in my Explorer long block. Runs great and looks just as good as 8K crate motor. Take your time and enjoy the ride!

So worth it in the end!

Dude, you won the roadster giveaway!!!! YOU are the LuckyWinner!!!! Don't give up, as with all things, this will pass and you'll probably regret letting it go if you do. Unless you really need the money for the sale, which I can undersatnd, just let it sit for a while. Try to cancel your engine order and get your money back, you can always get another engine later when your ready.
Don't want to try and make you feel guilty, but if your like most people, if you let it go now, you might not get another chance.
About this time two years ago I was on my way getting my hot rod on the road and the DMV confiscated my engine at the field inspection. I brought my hot rod back home with no engine in it. If there was ever a time I thought of giving up, that was it, I seriously considered selling it. But I pushed on and got another engine, put it in, got my approvals and it's been on the road since.
You gota do what you got a do, but were here to help :)

Another idea perhaps? Cut your drain of cash by working out something on the motor and sell the TKO. Sit on the kit until things get better, you won't get another one at the price you sell it for or what you got it for. Regret is a bitter memory no matter the cause. Think about it before doing anything. If you can't hang onto a free one how will you ever get another one? Decide what you need to do and then fight for it best you can whatever it is.

Man, you won that roadster for a REASON... dont give up. Life is transitory... things will turn for you. It may be a year or two.... who cares? I have a very good friend that took 7 years to complete his FFR. Then he drove it in primer for several years till he saved for the paint. Its the one 'thing' in his life that really brings him joy and melts away the stress. Even though it took many years.... he just loves it and cant imagine not owning it.
Honestly, nothing makes me more sad then seeing someone like yourself give up on a dream. Show your grand kids you didnt give up on yours... even if you have to put it off. If you do that, you will set a much more valuable example than giving up and selling her off. If the Cobra was a dream for you, and you were given a MASSIVE head start by winning the kit... it would be incredibly sad to see you give up so easily.
Sell the trans, buy a donor motor and trans, put the elbow grease into making it pretty and drive it like that.

Tough choice. I know a lot of guys are pulling for you. In the end, just like all the choices you've made in the build so far, what you decide is your decision and it will be right for you. There is no rush, as David said, if possible, treat it as a hobby and get to it when you can. Good luck.

Nooooooooo!!!!!!! If it's only time and money (sounds like most things in life... ;) ), I totally agree with David. Go cheap on the drivetrain. Richard Oben posted a great post a few months back about getting a roadster done. Many spend way too much time sweating the little details. His advice was get it done sooner rather than later and drive it like you stole it (I'm paraphrasing, but you get the point).

Sorry to hear but priorities and the little guys come first! Family is everything, all of us have had cars, they come and go, but there's nothing like your own family, nothing.
If you have to sell and you need a fair price (and cash now) rather than get taken at some Craig's list fire sale, maybe we can work something out. I have always wanted to build.
Sincerely, Gary

Hey my friend, one warrior to another, listen to what everyone is saying. . . don't rush the decision to sell your roadster. Wait awhile and if the financial strain of dealing with your family gets too tough, then sell it. My experiences have shown me that the easiest way out is not always the best way out, and deifnitely that perserverance wins in the long run. Perservere, hold on to your dream, even if you have to put it off for awhile. When you do, all things have a way of working out. Of course the final decision is yours, just don't rush it.
