I've been lurking on this forum & FF5's website for about a year, and I'm seriously considering ordering a '33 kit. I'm wondering where the discrepancy lies between the US and Canadian price for a complete kit - $19,990 vs $15,490, respectively. I read about the 'deleted parts' list, but couldn't find the actual list anywhere. Do these parts account for the difference? I tried searching the forum as well, but no luck.
Also, is the kit available in two stages in Canada?
Thanks folks!
I was able to find this: http://www.factoryfive.com/order-a-kit/international-orders/canada/canadian-import-procedure/
The old FFR web site did have a "delete list" but I wasn't able to find one on the new site. All I can suggest is to give FFR a call.

I have purchased a Roadster kit and it is being shipped at this time. Transport Canada does not allow the import of kit cars but will allow the import of a starter kit. You will not be able to import any drive train, fuel, brake, suspension or electrical system components with the kit (this would be the difference in price). The people at Factory Five know exactly what is allowed and were very helpful with my import documentation. They'll be able to tell you the correct procedure for getting transport approval, what parts you need to source from other suppliers and where you can get those parts. I highly recommend you contact them directly.
Good Luck!
I liked the Under-steer and over-steer quote. I am big F1 fan and speedvision is always talking about taking out the under-steer and vise/versa. in the F1 races.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Norm, I'm just north of you, in Wetaskiwin. I realize you haven't received your kit yet, but how long did the process take? From ordering, importing, and (estimated) delivery, how long of a wait was it? Did you arrange shipping yourself or did you go with Stewart Transportation?
Thanks again!

I imported my 33 in 2 stages. I didnt have any issues.
The deleted parts are suspension, steering, fuel and brake components.

I order the kit in mid January. Got the required paperwork from FFR very quickly and sent the request to import to Transport Canada on 30 Jan. Got the approval letter from them on 17 Feb and arranged to have it transported by Stewart Transportation. Some confusion and missed delivery dates have occurred and the car will now be delivered to the border on 11 May. The people at FFR are great and dealing with them is easy. Made a couple of changes to my original order with no problem and they made sure I didn't order anything that TC wouldn't approve. The people at Stewart Transport are good to deal with but they have had trouble meeting their delivery schedule for me. My job takes me out of town so I can't just take any day off to go meet the delivery truck. Finally had to get them to deliver it to a storage facility at the border and will pick it up when time permits. Lost abut 6 weeks do to shipping problems.
The next big hurdle is crossing the border and I'll let you know how that goes soon.

We ship a lot of the FFR completion kits into Canada to enable Canadians to get he complete FFR US spec kit and still comply with Transport Canada regulations
Here is a link to the HR kit

The roadster, coupe and GTM completion kits are on our webpage www.whitbymotorcars.com on the home page under services. Let us know if we can help.

Excellent, thanks for the info everyone, it helps alot.
Jeff, I looked through your hot rod completion package and I have a couple questions. I presume this package includes everything on the Canadian deletion list? And why is the four-link package more expensive? The kit from FFR is more expensive with the three link option, just curious.
Thanks again!!

I worked with Al Beix, he is listed on the FF5 site. The process was simple. He can give you the list also.

hi there fellow Canadians,
My son and I picked up our coupe on Friday and drove home yesterday. First of all the picking up the kit experience was great, all the Factory Five team was supportive and helpful. When we arrived at Canadian Customs, everything went as planned thanks to FFR we had the right paperwork, wrote a cheque and were through in 15 minutes.

I ordered my 33 through Al Beix at Western Canada Cobras. He is supplying the rear axle as well. The "Canadian Completion Package" which are all the parts left out of the kit by F5 are being supplied through Jeff Collins (I believe that is his last name) at Whitby Motorcars.
I have to say that speaking ams emailing both of them has been great. They are both VERY knowledgeable about the process and I have done nothing except wait for the shipments to arrive.... Which according to them should be in the next few weeks. They both have been great at answering all of my stupid questions as well as replying to emails and returning calls almost immediately. Just excellent.
AL handles all the TC paperwork with F5 and all I have to do is pick the crate up with a flatbed. The other parts will come to my US Address and I will import them myself, which means declare them, pay HST and bring them home (no duty on auto parts from USA)
In also enrolled in the build school in March and even the lady I spoke with at MOTT college was great. Seriously every single contact I have had so far with this project has been exceptional.
I have been given no reason at all to doubt the rest of the experience will not be the same.
Getting excited. Many questions to come.... Stay tuned

Probably late in the game for you by now... but just an update for those Canucks who care.
Got my paperwork (From Al at WCC via FFR) into Transport Canada on Dec 18. Approval letter emailed back on the 20th. Plans to ship now underway... expect to hear from Al after Christmas (not sure)
Completor Package of Canadian parts has shipped from FFR to Whitby Motorcar (Jeff Collins) and expect to hear from him about the same time.
No hitches, no hicupps all good so far!! Getting excited!
Seriously why mess around, if you're Canadian and want a FFR Kit... email or call Al Beix and Jeff Collins.... done deal!

hdnik: do you have a complete list as to what Whitby sends in their completion kit? 5k seems a bit steep for what is listed on the link he posted up above. (compared to the GTM completion kit which seems to have more, including bigger ticket items and for 3k less.)
I was looking at the GTM and 818 but the 33 is really tickling my fancy. I got the digital manual and going through it, I can really picture myself building one.

I am thinking of the 3-link and upgraded disks. Between the GTM, the 818 and the '33 I have a LOT of homework ahead of me :P
