Hi - I'm wondering if the headers I got from Factory Five are typical of what most folks are getting. I am on my second set of 351W headers from F5 (long story short - wanted stainless steel headers, sold my original F5 headers, couldn't find acceptable stainless steel ones, so ordered another set from F5).
Here's the condition of the box they arrived in - several areas were taped up...

Opened the box, and this is what I found - almost nothing to protect them in shipping...

Once I got them out and had a look at them, there were lots of nicks, and scuff marks, but also deep marks from whatever they used to bend them...

Plus the flange is off by close to 1/8" of an inch...
This is one end:

This is the other end - the straight edge rocks back and forward:

Overall really disappointed with these - not sure whether to put them on and hope they don't leak or send them back - so is this considered acceptable?

Typical quality but I'd send it back because of the flange.

That is standard with a mass production header. As to the packaging, again, that's the way most are shipped, FFR doesn't have control over that, it's Hookers methods. As to the flange discrepancy, most of that will resolve its self when you tighten them down. That's why most suggest using the High Temp RTV on the flanges, along with the gaskets to seal up really well. I know it doesn't look perfect, but it will be just fine if you follow what others have learned to do.

At least you got a "right" and a "left". My first set of headers were 2 lefts with one of them stamped the right side PN. FFR gets those straight from Hooker and like others have said, it's typical of a mass production header. I am really thinking about getting a set of Accufabs made for mine or going to set of Gordon's stepped headers. They are pricey but worth it from what I have seen.

Better make a few of that them there transaxle cable clamps and rad cooling pipe clamps to put some pennies into the headers fund :D

I had a 3.1 complete kit, in 2008, and they came with none of these problems

Don't feel bad, it appears from your photo that you at least got gaskets & hardware! I bought a set of 351W ceramic coated 4 into 4's from a member on the 'other' forum a while back and they're pretty beat up, too. They weren't cheap, but I threw them in the attic until I source a 351 for my build-up to a 427W.
I'd probably have some higher expectations for new parts, though.
Thanks,
Will

the shipper should be responsible for damage.
mine came in a foam wrap to conform the headers and wrapped in a plastic bag.
looks like maybe it was sent to you from some that were sent back to hooker or f5r
the interior wrapping isn't correct.
Gordon i here makes a nice set of tuned headers i believe Rsoccoa just got a set ping him and ask how he likes them
