Does anyone know, or can they infer what the exterior dimensions of the 818 are?

http://www.factoryfive.com/galleries/project-818/

I remember somewhere it said the wheelbase was 95". I'm hoping for a longer car. I'm part of the wookiee crowd, and if I wanted to look like Godzilla then I'd buy a Miata. Some comparisons:

Lotus Elise: Wheelbase 90.6", Length 149"
Mazda Miata MX-5: Wheelbase 91.7", Length 157"
Honda S2000: Wheelbase 94.5", Length 162.7"
Porsche Boxster: Wheelbase 97.4", Length 172"

How big will it be?

This will be a small car, no doubt. It probably won't look much bigger than a Miata. Length will vary depending upon the chosen design, but only slightly. The length I state below was measured off of my design which is shown below to give you a frame of reference. All other dimensions were set by FF.
Length: 166"
Wheelbase: 95"
Width: 68"
Height of rollbar from ground: 45"
ground clearance: 4.5"

That sounds about right, BipDBo.

Angy soccer moms driving big SUV's and going through a bitter divorce are still going to try and drive you off the road, no matter how big they make it. And cops will pull you over long before them.

You are going to look like Godzilla, as much as I would look like a man child in a larger car. Just the facts of life, deal with it the best you can my friends.

My prediction: legroom will be more generous than shoulder room so plan to get friendly with your passenger.

Size only matters when you don't have it. :D

At 6' 250ish, and proportional, I'm not so worried about the cab. My concern is the foot box and pedal placement, size 13 didn't fit in a Cobra Kit.

I know it's not an answer, really, but if you're close, you can get a bit of extra room by dumping the WRX seats for something smaller. Lotus elise seats, for example. They mount lower, and they're very comfortable (if you get an 06+ with the probax) for long drives while being very thin and small. You can pretty easily get 2 - 3" of extra room in the interior by ditching the "single donor" seats.

Not sure if it'll be enough for you, but it's food for thought...

dumping the WRX seats

I'm considering doing this but for different reasons. The WRX seats are incredibly uncomfortable. I figure if I'm going to be uncomfortable anyway I might as well get racing seats with a 4+ point harness so I'm at least somewhat safe if I do something stupid and wreck.

The thread seems to have taken a little bit of a tangent. Originally, the question was about exterior dimensions, but we're now talking about internal proportions, or "wookie compatibility," which is talked about immensly in various threads. My prediction is that the 818 will have fairly small exterior proportions, (which will make the stock WRX wheels look nicely sized), but it will have pretty generous interior room. The compact boxer engine allows for the car to be small on the outside and "big" on the inside. "Big" being relative to other cars its size.

To make a comparison, the GTM is wider but shorter. The total height of the GTM is 42.5" with the top of the rollbar probably at about 41", 4" shorter than the 818. The only tight spot on the interior looks to be they are putting the two seats pretty close together, giving a lot of room on either side giving crumple space for side impact. No problem. I don't mind getting close to my passenger at all, and I'm sure that the seat position can be customized a bit.

I think there are advantages to putting the occupants close together.

1. No pinched toes because of wheel wells.

2. Weight/mass closer to centerline of car.

3. Side impact, as already mentioned.

4. Narrower windshield for lower frontal area and less weight.

I'm sure that there are other advantages, please feel free to add to the list.

Depending on your co-occupant, person-to-person proximity...

Back on topic, does anyone know how long design number four was? I doubly they'll stray too far from that.

Don't know length, but the image posted here (http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?5918-Hmmmmm-What-body-is-FFR-showing-on-the-818-Frame-Gallery&p=57655&viewfull=1#post57655) provides some width measurements.

You know, I still can't find the answer to this. Does anyone know the length and width of the car?

155" length, 69.5" width according to the road and track article. Link is on the main page for the 818 on factory five's website.

Length end to end about 150" width wheel to wheel 65" interior tub width 47" tub length is 47" to lower firewall 57" to frame. Wheelbase 95" I am 6'1 and I fit in it fine, my brothers about 6'5 and he fits in it. The hardest part is getting him under the rollbar.
