Started working on my MkIV body in preparation for a couple of coats of Slick Sand before I set the body back on the chassis for alignment, fitting doors, hood and trunk. Ground down the body seams and will fill with Rage Gold prior to primer.

I had ordered my basic kit without the body cutouts but they were all marked which will make it an easier job. I noticed that for the windshield, the driver’s side slot is right on top of the fender seam so I was going to cut the slot before I filled the seams. However, I then noticed that the passenger side slot is marked about an inch inboard of the fender seam. I would think that the fender seams would be pretty much in the same location on the body on both sides but this might not be true.

I would appreciate someone looking at their body to see where there windshield cutouts are located. I don’t want to drill/cut mine out if they are in the wrong place.

Many thanks.

I had my body pre-cut by FFR and the windshield cut outs are off set as you have indicated. The driver side cut out is on the seam and the passenger side is about an inch inboard from the seam. Hope this helps.

Mine were as Dale indicated, but the spacing was not wide enough for the windshield. Ended up cutting the passenger side out about an inch making it hit the seam and fit the windshield.

Dale and Dean,

Many thanks for the information. Appears that mine are marked correctly so will go ahead and cut them out and start filling the seams.

Here's my advice: when you make your initial cuts, begin with a small hole so you can look and see where you need to be with the final, fully-cut slots. That will give you the opportunity to adjust without having made a big commitment.

Thanks Pierre.................great advice. Was going to drill a small hole at each end of the marked cutout which will let me get an idea of how they line up before I cut the openings.
