At huntington beach. Funny enough, at just the mention that I was from the 818 forum, he said that they are planning on showing the body in the next couple of months. He also said they are testing it. Anyway I didn't ask any more questions about info getting released. One thing I can certainly say is he is genuinely concerned about those waiting for news and updates and hasn't forgotten this section of the community.
Btw, for those worried about the body, look at a gtm in person and see how beautiful it is. I think that FFR will be able to design a gorgeous HOF body no matter what.

Yeah, I met Dave this week too. His enthusiasm is infectious. You can't help but get the sense talking to him that this is going to be an awesome car. I can't wait!

shinn,
Did you get to meet any other FFR guys? I came very close to pulling the trigger and coming to HB but had a last minute commitment. That's good news about the body!!
Thanks, WEK.

It was really good. My favorite part was the moment of thunder. V8s are LOUD (everyone in my circle drives imports). I only met dave but I tried to meet a LOT of people there. Come next time and I'll show you around SoCal!!!!

well take everything with a grain of salt please. Things could change in the future and we didn't talk long, he was very busy at the time. For sure it will debut at Sema.
The point is thing are going forward and he hasn't forgotten us.

I have only been apart of the FFR community for a short time. From the posts I have read and the videos I have watched it seems that Dave has real care and concern for his products and his customers. When I finally do get an 818 up and running I plan to take a road trip to the factory and hopefully meet the staff.

Me too!!!!!1 Dave is really cool! He was very down to earth, and he was surprised that I admired the company (I think I was one of the youngest person there at 25).
the community was really cool too. They love showing off and talking about their rides. And people treated each other with respect whether they brough a 80,000$ custom ride or a 20,000$ budget build.

Regarding the reveal: I think it's interesting that he would make a comment like that because there's a lot of time between SEMA and two months. If there is anything to it, THAT's AMAZING!!!
I would expect the community to be like that. I think most of the people consider the build process a binding relationship with other like builders. It is a little like having a baby for many of us. I know some are much more experienced but they still appreciate someone else who has done it.
Thanks for the invite. I hope that next year we might actually be able to look at a project that we are just talking about now. See you, WEK.

Has anyone heard about the size of the cockpit? I am 6'3" and about 230#. I am concerned about fit in such a car.

@wallace18 That has been a concern for a lot of people. If I were you I'd search wookie compatible for more info.
@skullandbones Yeah I'm really curious on the time frame for development. Part of me is hoping that they will have the body finished really soon. It seems possible since they are designing it on computer.

Shinn497, you just nailed the reason that Factory Five and this community are always growing. It is a community. Similar interests, lots of respect for other's builds, and honestly it doesn't matter if you have a budget build or a show car. Point is that we built them. We drive them. We love them. BTW...... I am excited about the 818, since my roadster is done. Have a great time driving it and getting a lot of stares, and pics taken. But I want to build again! I am more than twice your age, but, still have that eagerness for learning new stuff and the Subie stuff is going to be new to me.

NicksPapaw, you're not alone. I thought I knew about cars, but know nothing about Subarus. Can't wait to get one and begin to figure it all out.

Right on the money
We all have a passion for the auto as a machine that we connect to at a basic level. Newer cars isolate you too much. I'm twice your age as well and yet I can connect with your excitement. The knowledge that you assembled such an awesome machine, it connects deeply in a way I can't really explain.
I've met and talked with Dave twice and I can talk to him just like I do with my close friends... Virtually all engineers BTW (even my lovely Mechanical Engineer wife who supports my 10 cars and 7 motorcycles) .. I'm a gearheaded geek all the way... Remember the piston exercise that Dave IDed to us...
I added 4 pistons Friday, a wrecked 2005 wrx!!!! Now my piston total is 102!
I'm a newbe to the Subarus as well but as a 15 year autocrosser I have tons of friends who live and breathe turbocharged Subarus
Subie stuff is going to be new to me.
There's a lot of ground to cover but it's pretty well documented. I'd suggest going to NASIOC and working your way through the stickies. I did that and it helped tremendously.

Agreed that NASIOC is a great community for the Subaru. There is a wealth of knowledge on that site.

while its a great place for information, and there are many there with a great deal of knowledge, just be prepared to wade through a lot of BS to get to the real information. the "community" that is NASIOC is actually pretty terrible with lots of with lots of trolls and know it all newbs that actually don't know anything...

Unfortunately, that is the "norm" for public forums. You just have to learn how to wade through the BS and find the good info.
Exactly, that's why I recommend anyone read the stickies first. There are a lot of keyboard cowboys out there giving bad information.
