The FFR challenge cars are at Summiy Point, WV for the second east coast race of the season. In attendance are Jim Schenck, Wayne Patterson, Carl Thompson, Paul Kaiser and I all running the 2012 rules package. Warmup was in the AM, followed by qualifying around noon, then the race in the afternoon. Qualifying saw me first of the FFRs, followed by Jim, Paul (too lazy to change his rain tires still on from VIR,) Carl and Wayne.

The race had me starting 3rd overall, Jim right behind me with Paul, Carl and Wayne a couple of spots back.
Wow.. What a race! Both Jim and Paul got me at the start, was battelig with Jim fits then set on to get to Paul. Took me quite some laps to get to Paul but once there anoter epic battle ensued, both of us on the limit running low 1:21's lap after lap. Paul ended up winning with us .563 seconds apart. Stay tuned for this video, it's pretty good!

Tomorrow has quali in the morning, and race in the afternoon.
Schedule and live timing can be found on http://www.nasaracing.net/

Funny Joe.. We got back to FFR at 1am this morning, will try to work on the videos tonight.

Sunday's race, lap 1-3 were sweet battling for the lead with Jim and Paul, then my car let me down with brake issues. Jim and Paul continued the battle up front with Jim leading for quite some time and eventually Paul getting around him later, Carl having power/revving/issues, and Wayne running consistent laps. The race was cut short due to an incident on the front straight bringing out a red flag, unfortunately both Paul and Wayne got DQ'd for missing the red flags. Finishing order was Jim in P1, Carl P2, me stuck in the gravel trap 5 laps down in P3.

Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun, sorry I missed it. Unfortunate one of those red flags in turn 1 was from a serious accident with a friend of mine. It appears something broke on his brakes at the end of the front straight and he went head first into the wall at T1. It is a good reminder that we all really need to make sure the brakes are ok before anything else, but even then things can go wrong.

See you guys soon I hope.

We hope so, and things are looking promising. He has a crushed vertebra just below the rib cage, but no puncture of the spinal cord itself. He has feeling in his hands and feet so that is a very good sign. He goes into surgery tomorrow. His son is keeping us all updated and passing along our well wishes to the dad. Interesting part of it all is the seat, H&NR, and harness did their jobs superbly. It looks like the injury occurred after the impact itself, when the car came back down flat on all four tires.

Seeing these cars hitting 138+ on the Summit Point straight shows just how effective the performance mods have been. That's pretty impressive. Great racing guys.
