Looking good; I like the centre seat position (was that done for balance?)
P.S. Rotate those tires! :P (I kid...)

The center seat was really done for two reasons, as I have been told by Richard. One is that because the pedal/footbox area was not changed, but the rear firewall was moved forward for extra height in the roll cage depertment, it was neccessary to fit the pedals in the middle where there is more room, and because the roof height is higher there it adds a little bit of head room. The second reason is to fit the two fuel cells so as to take advantage of the large fuel limits in the class we run, yet not unbalance the car. You have to consider this not only when the tanks are full, but when they are empty. A mid mounted tank close to the CG of the car is good, but with the driver needing to be where he/she is, the only way to not put the fuel cell in the front of the car is to put two tanks low and on the sides. This is how the GT 40 is, and how the FFR PDG GTM is. I have more room mid ship in the GTMR, so I am trying to use a single tank that is RIGHT over the CG of the car. The pictures above do not show the saddle tanks in the car as of yet. :)
This is one of the reasons for the door bars being so far out...to protect the fuel cells. Everything must work with everything else, and when one thing is changed, many things usually change.

Crash,
what's the deal with the "piggybacked" roll bar on the roof? Have you changed the GTM roofline at all?

Just to be clear, these are pictures of the rebuilt FFR PDG GTM. This is not my car, which I will be referring to as the GTMR.
That said, the bars are in response to mine and other tall drivers' concerns that we could touch the roof with a stock roofline with our helmets. Therefore, Richard and gang added a roof scoop and associated hump to accomodate the extra bars so as to make it safer for us taller drivers. It does nothing for the esthetics of the roofline, IMHO, but it is huge as far as safety is concerned. As should be the case, safety trumps esthetics every time. :) If you are talking the extra little add ons, I believe these were put on after the "new" body was fitted, as this is now a Gen II with a Gen I nose on it due to better downforce. They just add an extra inch or two of further roll bar, again for safety's sake. :)
Looks like you had a nice day up at Richards and Yvonnes. This time of year you could have been fogged in.

I saw spy photos of the newly designed gull wing doors..they are crazy! I heard there are many more surprises in store for the GTM chassis up rebuild/redesign and a new direction for the team! Many FFR and former FFR owners are volunteering countless hours in this year's 25 hour effort!

Correct on all counts. This will undoubtedly be the best year yet for the FFR PDG GTM Team.
Many thanks to ALL those that are working to make this years effort head and shoulders above any of the previous outings! :)

So more scissor than gull? What hinge system are you using?

As you can see, it now has half doors and the hinge system will be custom.
The tanks being in the position that they are, along with the new half doors and door sills should allow better ingress and egress as it will be a nice "bench" to rest on on the way in and out. :)
I have no idea if my car will ever be done, but Richard and I are having fun transferring some of the ideas over to his car, and I am hoping that all the ideas, some modified significantly by Richard and Jim, will end up making the FFR PDG GTM faster and easier to work on. :)
As I and Richard have said, the team has some really cool stuff in the works, and I only hope it all comes together and makes us significantly FASTER! :) :)
