I am using the filler cap, filler tube and stock tank that comes with the kit. However, the filler neck appears too long and hits the bottom of my filler cap. I know, shorten the tube, right? I also have 15 gallons of gas in the tank that ended up there as I tried to sort out why my fuel gauge didn't register, turns out it was a defective gauge.
So to those who have gone before me, am I correct is shortening the tube and if so anybody got a good idea on how to do it to keep the shavings out of the tank or can I lean the filler tube forward or back and find a more flexible filler hose to connect the two.
Comments and suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob

I talked with FFR today and they say I should be able to just move the filler neck forward a little and everything should fit. So I guess I have answered my own question. :o

Okay here is another reply to my own question. There was no way my filler cap and filler tube would line up. I looked at cbergquist1's build photos and he had the same problem. I copied Chris' idea and it worked out real well. (thanks Chris).
I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion about this.....

Don't feel bad, the donor tank filler neck didn't line up either without some new pieces from Napa. :D

Bob, that area has changed over the years, it used to suffer from other types of problems! :-)

Hopefully you can put gas in yours, it takes me 1/2 hour to fill mine.

Glad that it helped. I just hope that radiator hose stands up to the gasoline. I think I spent an hour in the back of the parts store going through all their hoses. I took 4 different hoses home just to make sure.

Mine too! I've found that if you lift up on the boot a bit and hold it at juuust right right angle you can go WOT on the nozzle trigger.

When I have trouble filling my wife’s 350Z I turn the nozzle up side down and it will then fill at WOT.

Radiator hose isn't good enough. Gates makes a filler neck hose that's right, you can get straight sticks or 45 and 90* bends and they can be either in stock or ordered. Gates PN 247XX, sizes up to 2". Try to avoid the wire reinforced stuff, it's for large trucks and very stiff.

Another option: http://www.bobdrake.com/ItemForm.aspx?Item=HR-9047 A fuel resistant rubber hose molded to bend. Street rod parts suppliers have been dealing with a lot of the same problems for over 50 years, there's a lot of stuff out there even beyond a Speedway catalog.

There's also the major development in the forced use of alcohol contaminated fuels, which will go bad and start breaking down rubber hose in less than 90 days. Deterioration is severe enough to cause flaking of rubber which clogs up injectors, jets, filters, and pumps, especially on EFI systems with a return. Entirely why some won't use hose at all, they use metal pipe and minimize the connections, or go with kevlar/teflon.

Thanks Tirod for spending more of my money... Seriously, I appreciate the Bob Drake referral and have ordered one of the hoses. I have to take the body back off this fall and will be redoing the filler neck rubber hose at that time.
Thanks again,
Bob
