Dave Martin from the AHA sent along a few pics of the #28 Challenge Series racer today, which he took at the Grand National Roadster Show. It's been very cool to have our track proven race car rubbing elbows (or wheels) with all that world-renowned HP in the NHRA Museum over the last few months....The car will be on display in the museum through the 50th Anniversay celebration, and the Pomona Historic Races to be held this weekend. Thanks so much Dave!

As a little history on the #28 Challenge Series racer, the car was originally built by Marcus Motorsports in 2003, and was campaigned in the Challenge Series on the East Coast by some of the best Challenge Series racers competing at the time. The car secured the 2004 FFR National Championship in the capable hands of now pro-driver Spencer Pumpelly. I bought the car in 2006 as a back-up to my original #28 (black/white), which I eventually took off the track now use as my street car.
The #28 has secured more than 65 podium finishes in its lifetime, including winning the 2009 and 2010 West Coast Championships. The #28 also followed in the footsteps of the legendary Lawson Brothers, competing and finishing the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in 2007, and again in 2008. During the 2008 25 Hours race, pro driver Randy Pobst piloted the car for a stint, and while waiting for the fog-delayed race to resume, we all enjoyed some good times in the motorhome as Randy and Scott McKay "compared" race videos of them driving the #28...Randy said it was the "wickedest car" he'd ever driven.
This car has certainly earned its racing stripes in the world of competition, and to say it has brought a whole lot of joy and true adventure into my life would be an understatement. Big thanks to all of the FFR community for the support and encouragement you've given over the years, and to the dedicated members of Team Thunder Valley Racing who have each earned a humble place in racing history!
