I have a MK III kit that I am still working on. I read that the body of the coil overs should be on top, but have noticed both orientations in several photos by various folks. I think it will fit with the body on top and the hat on the bottom, but it looks very tight and I suspect it would rub once in motion, while if I mount it with the body on the bottom, there seems to be more room. What is the effect of mountin the Koni's "upside down"? Thanks

No effect what's so ever. The reason you shocks "spring up" is for clearence. Especially in the rear of 3-link cars to clear the panhard bar.

It makes no difference on the Roadster. The Black FSD Konis for the GTM have to be mounted with the body at the bottom.
