I recently purchased a Red F5R Cobra F5R 10060X9RD fitted with a 460 CuI and I'd like to find the original owner/builder.

(X has been added to number to save on fraud by someone.)

Does anyone have any ideas on where I could start looking?

460 CuI.... That's got to be an animal on the road/track.

I don't think Wayne does "small"...

Hope you find the builder if it wasn't Wayne.

Macka, please post some more details. Where did you get the Roadster? Where do you live? Perhaps post a photo? Stripe color? Interior color? Options? Wheels?

It does look a little like the red one above. It has no badges and has 17 inch Halibrands on it. There are no stripes and the front bumpers are bumperettes.

I will approach the company if I can't find the original owner in here. I thought someone might know the number or the car from my brief description.

You'll be surprised that the car has now gone half way around the world and is now in Australia.

Any help would be appreciated.

Youll find that if the original owner sold it for financial reasons, it would be a form of torture to maintain a prescence with this forum.

I've found out a bit more about it.

It was up for auction at
Barrett-Jackson Car Auction, Scottsdale, AZ, January, 2010, Lot Number: 418

This Factory Five Cobra re-creation was built by a 25-year service manager with only the best parts available. It is great looking, very fast yet very easy to drive. It has Haldibrand wheels, 4-wheel discs, dual master cylinder, TCI automatic C6 transmission, Dennys driveshaft, MSD Ignition, electric engine fan and electric transmission cooler. 460cid Ford with Canton Road Race pan, Keith Black pistons, Cam Motion valvetrain, Edelbrock aluminum heads and intake and 750 Holley carburetor. Serpentine belt setup and ceramic coated exhaust. Less than 700 miles on build. **TITLED AS A 2008 ASSEMBLED KIT**

I would hope that the previous owner can see that its in good hands now. I would also like to get some pics of the build and any other further info that I can.

Pics of her? I'm sure that would help. Even if the original builder doesn't pipe up, maybe someone here will remember his build thread or something. Pics are the answer to your prayers I think.

I searched the other forum for "6069" and nothing came up. Looks like the build wasn't on the forums, so it's going to be hard. Good luck.

Does anyone have contact with Factory Five who might be able to give me info of who purchased it?

Not sure if FFR would give that info out. Kind of a confidentially thing.

What you might able to do is contact FFR and ask them to pass your contact info on the the original owner, if they have still have his. Then he can contact you, if he wants to. That addresses the privacy issues.

I'd be happy with that and if the owner picked not to contact me then that would be fine... Who could I email for that?

Just waiting to hear back from the good people at FFR for the details or confirmation that my details were passed on.

*fingers crossed*

I haven't heard anything back yet... Would FFR bin my letter or not?

FFR will not give you previous owner names, they may have passed the information on to the original owner/builder, but that does not guarantee that he/she will ever respond to you. Might be a sore subject seeing how much money they lost on the sale.

Instead, if you have basic questions of the build, your best bet is to ask here and there are several of us who have built multiple cars that can respond.

I doubt FFR will give out any info on your car. Just enjoy it.

It would be nice to know when it was built to start with, can anyone help?

Mine is F5R1005946RD and was manufactured at the end of January 2007 so I'd guess yours left Factory Five in the first half of '07.

Factory five passed my details on to another customer and they got in touch with me directly a few weeks later.

I'm sure FFR would have passed your details on, but it's up to the original builder whether it not they got in touch with you.

It would be nice to know that FFR look after their customers, even after the car is sold on....

They do by respecting the original owners privacy........If you want, send FFR your information and ask them nicely if they would forward it to the original owner on record. Then it is up to that owner to decide whether to respond to you or not. Cab't ask for any more than that now can you.

I may be able to assist.
Why are you so desperate to contact the builder??
Are you trying to get around the registration/import issues in Australia?

Macka

Chris, no.. just wanting to find out some build facts and to keep him updated where it is now...

I have a tag number now but how hard is it to track someone down from that?

Macka , I know the feeling. I tried to track down my old corvette, I did manage to find it and even see it and talk to the owners son. I proved to son that I built the car, as I have the last registration in my wallet. I gave the son my business card with my home # and offered photos and car history. I never heard from him. I then realized that my business card has my job listed. Insurance Fraud Investigator. He probably was afraid to call me. I went back a few months later and didn't see car.

You just get curious about your babies !

Hard as it may be to believe, this person may not want to rehash the past. Some are wired to go continuously forward with relationships, toys, etc. therefore not heavy on sentimentality and nostalgia. Or he could be in the witness protection program. Lots of those here in AZ. Good luck though. WEK.
