There's a PDX event at Road Atlanta on March 20th. Great fun if you want to make the drive over.

My first official LOCOST post here....start closing off all the gaps in the nose and made easier to take the nose off now that the fiberglass doesn't actually wrap around the shock mount.

Well, since all this global warming has led to snow and I haven't been able to drive my cobra....and I am iching to tinker on something....At my house this equals to "fixing it until it's broken" and then it ends up costng me a ton of money. The Green Lantern is done and runs like a top. DON'T MESS WITH IT!!! I decided to get busy on something new..... Including all the metal on the floor I have $100 in it.

Day 4...starting to look like something...

Finished the back of the frame and started to add cross bracing. All in all only at about 16 hours in it.

Well, Not only did I finally get a chance to drive the Green Lantern today....I managed to run out of parts for the LOCOST again! I had to change directions a bit. I decided to save a ton of work to use the miata rear sub frame, which caused me to cut out some of the tubes that I had already put in. oh well. Anyway, after a few hours of measure and re-measuring, and then measure again. The rear sub frame is in. Good day overall...better now that I got to drive my roadster oh...and am just past $200 bucks in it.....

Well, it's down on the ground....mostly....one wheel anyway. Ran outof welding gas as well....so a good place to stop.

The tire is a 205-40-17. Looks a little skinny for me in the back, but too much wider and I think I won't have enough pressure per square inch to get the wide tires to stick. Ride height is at 4 3/4 all around for now.

Well...got a bunch of stuff done today....the in-laws are over ..... so I retreated to the garage for a bit.

Got the tunnel layed all out. Got the frame around both foot boxes. Made motor mounts and bolted the engine in.

I have to figure out where to put all the triangles in the tunnel.

Bought the sheet metal for the floor.

Need to get the triangles done for the tunnel and pull the drive train out and fininsh welding the frame, paint it and then start putting it together for the final time. Should move along pretty quick after that!!

As always...pics for the guys keeping track...

Hey Erik,
What is the March 6th event?

OK, well I got the nose pretty much how I want it and it is mounted so I can easily take it off and not damage the paint. Now I have to start on the hood. Also it was finally NOT cold!! so I had to take a little blast in the car...up the street and back... well not sure what happened to the fuel regulator, but all of a sudden it would make more than 30 PSI... took the car back home, played with the adjustment screw and back to normal. I will have to keep my eye on that. Set it back to 40PSI and back out... HOLY CRAP!!! yup it is fast!!!!!!!!!!!! I let my neighbor drive it to get another opinion on my assembly skills....he came back laughing....so I guess I did ok...now just have to finish the body work..do some SCCA events, get it painted and sell it. NO videos of the run today for obvious reasons :D

Here's how the post run phone call went:
E: I rolled into in second and it rev'd then backfired.
W: Really, that's odd
E: I did it again and watched the tach, it blows the tire off and hits the rev limiter almost instantly causing the backfire.
W: ah, makes sense
E: It only makes 9 psi in second gear, I don't know what it makes in third, too scared to look down at the boost gauge accelerating that fast.
W: too funny...

I was a little frustrated with the hood yesterday..really didn't as much done as I hoped and it looked like I might have to change directions again... a few hours of sleep and worked on the turn signal and high beam indicators....came back to the hood and it is starting to look like I might actually be closer than I thought. Still weeks of fitting/sanding, I am sure!

Made some progress on the hood. Probably only one more coat of filler on the right side the final sanding... The drive side I am not happy with so I will probably cut most of out and try again. the radius is off and instead of fighting it, I am going to cut it out. The hood scoop was something I was playing around with...not even close to what I want but wanted to see if I could see over it. The edges are trimmed and need to sanded to the gaps. I still have to glass in the low edge that will capture the lower lip and keep it from blowing out at speed. TOTALLY looks like a car now that it has a hood (as long as you don't look at the driver's side )
