OK, who carries those nice one-piece side vents that look much better than the "cheap" (to me anyway) looking single aluminum slats? Either stainless or polished alum. Cant seem to find em...thanks

Yes, ********** carries them. So does Whitby. http://www.whitbymotorsports.com/UInvDetail.asp?invPage=4&inventoryid=1572. Both of these are mill finished aluminum. They can be polished, but not easily. I have the ********** ones. I actually disassembled them, and did a full aluminum mirror polish on them reassembled. Turned out very well, but it's a lot of work.

Bethenia garage lists stainless louvers. http://www.bethania-garage.com/body_hardware.htm.

This thread has more info and at least one more source for stainless. http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/258827-fender-louvers-vents-whitbys-vs-**********.html

Performance Automotive sold them for awhile. They are stainless steel and very shiny. I bought a set and the quality just isn't there. The louvers have uneven spaces and the angle is different than the opening on the car. Mine also have weld discolorations on the end of the louvers. Several other people noted the issues and either sold them or returned them. Last year they said they were making new fixtures to resolve the issue and would send out new louvers to the existing customers, but I never heard anything. If they get the problems resolved the louvers would be worth the $$$.

Although I don't see it very often in photos of completed FFRs, the original street Cobras had their side louvers painted to match the body color. For those builders wanting that result, the Performance Automotive stainless louvers' shortcomings may not be that baad at all. Reading that the louver shapes don't match the body cutouts reminds me that I have never heard of a builder modifying the louver openings accordingly, to avoid the problem. I know for myself that this thought or possibility never entered my mind while the body work was under way. I simply ordered and mounted the ********** louvers in their natural color and finish, and I have been very satisfied with the results (as shown above, those use crimped tabs and a rivet to hold the assemblies together - simple and effective IMO).
