Congratulations to both teams - and Factory Five - for completing TWO killer builds in 48 hours!

In today's world of manufactured drama and reality TV, it's nice to see that they can still produce a show that highlights the skills in completing competing builds, and puts an emphasis on performance and charity instead of personality conflict!

Great Job! So when do we get to see the cars in person? Oh yeah, THIS MONTH at the Huntington Beach Cruise-In!!

We sure had a great time filming the show and it has been fun speculating what the show would be like. I can say that I am pleased with the results. Both cars are killer! Look forward to having the cars on display at the Huntington Beach event. For all of you guys that doubt that the cars were built in 48 hours. THEY WERE! We actually were on set from 7am Tuesday morning until after 7PM Thursday evening and then back to the set Friday morning for the judging and closing shots. With all the intros and interviews we didn't start the build until after noon on Tuesday worked straight for about 30+ hours then they stopped the clock for the creeper upholstery competition and the extra hour given to the Red team. Then the clock started back up and continued until the 48 hours were up. Some team members didn't sleep a wink, a few of us got a half hour cat nap in the break room. Not only is it a work out building a car in 48 hours but try doing it in a shop where you don't know where any of the tools or parts are stored. Thanks FFR for the opportunity to be part of this.

A great show of talent going in to two different but beautiful cars. Well done.

Great show, only saw it because of a mention here. Having wanted to build a roadster for years I've never paid much attention to the '33 but now thinking about it too. I see the option to buy in Stage 1/2 kits with what appears to be no difference from complete kit other than extra shipping costs? Splitting up into two stages makes it much more doable so wondering why not a similar option for the complete MK4 kit?

great job by both teams, dream cars for sure, seeing the divergent styles was wonderful!

I'd be proud to be seen in either one but do prefer the East Coast car

Great episode. Good job guys. I actually like both cars pretty much equally.

I would have liked the engine choice to be something more of a real choice. Say engine 1 would be a carb motor that is quick and easy to install. While engine 2 would be a newer fuel injected (say Coyote) that is a better overall motor, but would require the extra time on electronics and troubleshooting.

This old post may get more recognition because the episode is on the new Factory Five DVD. Awesome work done by both teams.

I did see the cars at HB back then - they looked better up close and personal.

Note to Da Bat Jeff Miller -- those air brushed panels looked amazing. It has a "cartoon-like" look to it - weird, in a great and artistic way. I can't wait to get my Coupe project done so I can take it to the bat cave for paint and finish!

Those two cars were the only thing left in the FF hauler when we unloaded my kit back then. They were on their way to Wareham so I was one of the first to see them in person after the show. They were both unique and nicely done as a testament to the skill of the build teams. I don't recall what was done with them after the show and photo shoots though.

The winning car was auctioned off for ~$30000 at a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation auction in Colorado soon after the Huntington Beach show. The other car was featured as a "sale" on Jeff's new and strangely titled and produced "Car Chasers" as part of a two car deal for a father son. Jeff was able to buy that car for nothing from the show and made a good profit even when he actually sold it to a friend in South Florida. The friend had PM'd me asking for more information on the car which I was happy to give but he and Jeff immediately went silent when I tried to contact them about seeing the car when in Florida on vacation. Not sure what the deal is there. Oh well, it was a blast and a lot of hard work but I'm glad we did it.

That show was a blast
Both teams were awsome and I would work with any of those guys again.
The cars turned out were the best cars that show ever saw.

Thanks Erik
I recalled that there was a charity deal involved but the details were too fuzzy to recall. AND thanks for setting up the SEMA bar night again, see you in a week or so.
FWIW
My kit traveled in a big circle on the FF hauler for 5400 miles while others were dropped along the way then the CW cars picked up then the last 2 other kits before mine
then finally came to KC. I was surprised to get that sneak peak and it inspired me to make my 33 one of a kind even more than I had in mind. But my lack of those mad skills means a 4 year build instead of matching your mad thrash.
