Looking for help on the correct (reliable) routing of the clutch cable on a MK4 complete kit. Engine tranny combo is a 302/T5. I've searched the various threads and can't figure out how to secure the cable to the frame or motor.

Thanks...

I mounted my cable as shown in this Mk3 build site. http://mk3build.com/manual/doku.php?id=clutch_cable

Here's mine. I removed the factory bracket used a cushion clamp to secure it to the frame.

Slid the OE mounting bracket down and did it like so:

After combining this with the fixed points at the firewall and bellhousing the cable is well away from headers, etc and has no desire to move.

Have you or any one had a problem with the clutch cable being to long?

Too long you CAN deal with, its the too short one that is the problem!

Pas make sūre to stay away from the headers

I removed the bracket that comes on the cable and turned it around. It looks like it'll attach to the long tube next to the motor mount and work quite nicely. Pictures to follow.

I used the Ford Racing M-7553-C302 clutch cable, and also used the provided cable bracket. Moved and oriented it so that I could use a through-bolt into the motor mount. Is rock solid, and kept well away from any heat sources. I tried to take a picture, but just can't get under there with it sitting on the ground. Looks very similar to Jeff's picture, except the bracket is rotated about 90 degrees and bolted to the motor mount face. I initially tried bolting to the F-panel, as in the Mk4 build website, but didn't think it was rigid enough.

I straightened out the cable bracket and mounted it to front of engine at bottom of the water pump housing. It keeps the cable away from the headers and provides gentle curve towards the bell housing
For some reason I can't load a photo. Will try later.
