If the 818 can provide the platform for this type of performance at a small fraction of the $69,500 price then I will be all over it. AND, if the 818 coupe could take on the looks / flavor of the 999 again I would be all over it. Take a look... http://www.999motorsportsusa.com/ I really like this car just not the price tag.

I like it for the most part... the front just seems a little too small/disproportionate compared to the back though... Maybe it's just me.
I think a substantial part of that price tag is they put the car together. It's a turn key, not kit car. Plus there's some major drawbacks in that it doesn't seem like it can be street legal.
I think you can easily get a competing 818 in under it's price tag. But it does have the trade off of elbow grease not included. Nice car either way, love the center seating position.

The specs on that car are about on a par with the current FFR spec racers in terms of power to weight. If FFR achieves the weight goal, the 818 will be 400 lbs lighter than the 999 car. That's a lot of weight. Even if the track version of the 818 weighs a couple hundred lbs more, I'm betting it will still outperform the Supersport at 1/3 the cost.
I also noticed that the Supersport has a center driver position so you won't be taking it to track days as a newbie requiring an instructor.
Edit: Also, wasn't Panoz close to this price point with their spec racer a few years ago? That was a much more exciting car. At 69 grand, a four-banger doesn't really get my blood pumping.

If you dig a little deeper you'll see it weighs 2200 pounds without gas(where the 818 is suppose to be 818kg with every but driver).
I also think this is suppose to be competing more with the likes of the KTM Xbow and Arial Atom then any FFR car. They are actually taking it a step further to develop their own race series just for this car.
Boy would it be neat if somehow there could be some kind of race series for the 818 but that would be extremely hard to do.

It should deliver the same specs.

Styling wise it reminds me of a Hot Wheels car, sort of overly juiced up and kind of toy-like.
Not bad, but a little too reminiscent of a Civic, Evo or othe Japanese sub-compact converted to mid-engine.
Is this the same car which was at a car show recently in red, with black carbon fiber hood, trunk and doors? If not, I'd say it does share the same stock stance, which is neither good nor bad, and just a design expression.

This car is rather awesome and probably very comparable in performanceto a track ready 818, if not a little bit slower. The coupe or track versions of the 818 will probably be slightly more expensive than the $10,000 base roadster, but far cheaper to complete than this vehicle at $70,000, which I'm sure is a great deal in the world of race cars. This really puts into perspective the value of the 818, doesn't it?

I was expecting something more along these lines: the Benelux for the 818. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUm9Re8Kxqo&feature=relmfu
I didn't check the specs though. WEK.

That's the same car. The link I posted is for the US distributor but the car originated in France. Benelux is an economic union in Europe comprising three neighboring countries, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg

Wow. I didn't compare but I could have sworn the car was longer wheelbase or something made it look better to me. Just goes to show that color and graphics can really make you see it differently. I stand corrected!!! Thanks, WEK.

I was comparing with the current FFR spec racer which is an AC replica, not the 818.

It's actually NOT hard to do at all and FFR will probably do it when, or after, they begin production of the 818 track car. That possibility has already been discussed by Dave, IIRC. It requires a set of rules for the class (like these) (http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/factory_five_challenge/ffr2.pdf). The safety structure has to meet the safety requirements of the sanctioning body. Then you lobby the sanctioning body to allow the new class in. In the case of NASA, the class will run within one the main race groups (may be different by region but Mid-Atlantic has Stinger and Thunder groups). Just like Grand Am has 3(?) classes on track at the same time.
