In the spirit of April Fool's I thought I would create a thread that is kind of absurd.

If you had rediculous resources (like tony stark resources), time, energy, and intellect, what would you put in/on your 818?

Here are some suggestions.

ROCKET LAUNCHERS/FLAMETHROWERS. Never mind if these are legal because who hasn't watched a james bond film thought "I need that". I mean just last week I found myself chased by some baddies and could have really used a portable explosive device.

A PERSONALITY. For those that have netflix, you will notice that Knight Rider is available for streaming! When watching this show I couldn't help but wonder...what if my car wasn't just my mode of transportation but my companion? Many a time I've found myself in need of an accomplice that can calculate large numbers and has a brain made of silicon. One embeded in my car would work nicely

THE SPEED RACER MESSENGER BIRD Because sometimes your stuck in the desert...with no fuel...and you just found out your late brother is actually your greatest rival.

Any other ideas?

I think kit cars are limited by one's imagination. Which makes them limitless.

Also this forum is running out of things to talk about :b

I'm adding blowers to create negative pressure under the car. And dynamic front and rear spoilers (aids turning and braking - reduces drag at high speeds.) And computer-controlled, instantly variable ride-height adjustments.

I want 4 G's in the curves and acceleration limited only by horsepower. The car will be a jet-fighter that flies two inches off the ground. :D

Full electric drive using the Protean Electric 160hp motors at each wheel, powered by a nuclear battery (so no generator is needed) and super capacitors (to provide additional instantaneous current).

An immensely high powered laser shifter, stealth paint, and a radio jammer (illegal, I know, but I can't have them calling for backup!).

No keys. Car would unlock via fingerprint, and "turn on" via facial recognition.

finally, the ability to drive itself (for those times when I want to do something else).

The technology current exists for all these things, even the nuclear battery! (http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10372233-1.html)

you know I've been looking into electronic Dual Layer capacitors with graphene contacts. They would make it charge in a matter of minutes. No batteries required. The car would also cast 300 million dollars.

If I had Tony Stark resouces, I'm sure I wouldn't even consider the 818. The appeal with the 818 is that it's the affordable supercar. With that being said, all wheel electric drive with turbine range extenders (or why not, nuclear batteries) does sound nice. I don't care too much for amenities, but I might splurge for a Tom Tom.

Heck, if I had Tony Stark resources, I wouldn't bother being confined to the pavement with the rest of the mere mortals. I'd fly everywhere in a jet with VTOL capability. That would just be temporary, though, until I figured out teleportation or how to digitize my consciousness.

Mr. Fusion.

The 818 would be much better than the Delorean at getting to 88 mph. It would have no problem outrunning that VW van.

My mistake. It's Protean Electric (http://www.pmlflightlink.com/). They did the Mini Cooper (http://www.treehugger.com/cars/electric-mini-0-60-in-4-seconds-it-has-motors-in-its-wheels.html) that was posted in another thread. I edited my original post and fixed it.

Did they use torque vectoring?

Nice find, I did not know some one was doing this.

About the Lohner-Porsche, great stuff, they had AWD versions, FWD versions which raced. The competition complained so much about the unfair advantage that they were banned from racing soon after introduction. The hub technology eventually made it's way into the non-wining Tiger tank competition where each Caterpillar tread had a hub motor front and back, calling it an "electric transmission". An adopted version of the motor powered the turret of the winning Tiger design, so Porsche got a piece of the action. This sort of stuff almost got him hung after the war for working with the Nazi's, some Italian sprung him from jail to design a race car.

The guy was brilliant, at the age of 14 he wired his parents home for electricity even though there was no power. He later hooked it up to a generator, which again he practically made from scratch.

his father was always trying to get him to settle into a know career path, and hated the fact that his son was a "dreamer". he wired the house while his parents were on a trip. when his father had seen what he was able to do, he won his respect and his father always supported him after that. cool story.
