Prior to installing the rack and pinion, I noticed how stiff it operated. Couldn't turn it by hand. Was concerned that the caster would not be suffucient to return the steering to center after a turn. Drove a friend's FFR33 and found that my concerns were well founded. In a major turn, the rack would return but not fully. In a minor turn at a relatively slow speed the car remained in the turn and had to be returned manually. Contacted Unisteer and was advised that they adjust the rack to be tight and that it will lossen up within a few hundred miles. The 33 that I drove had a few hundred miles on it and the problem remains.
Also, I could not help but to notice how ineffective the brakes were on that 33. It would slow down but it would never stop within a reasonable distance, most especially under emergency conditions. Viewed several complaints relative to poor braking. I am considering the pad and rotor upgrades and wonder if going to the larger rotors with 6 piston Wilwood calipers would be a better choice. Lastly, a Wilwood engineer indicated that the .75" bore master cylinders supplied with the kit are not what he would recommend for use with the Mustang front and rear calipers and rotors. Spoke with several individuals and received varfying opinions.
Feedback would be greatly appreciated.
