This one is a slam dunk for all you senior forum members. There's been a lot of posts lately about windshield installation (and I've also searched the archives of both forums) but I haven't come across any specific references to the year, make, and model car that the coupe borrows its windshield from. What windshield should we tell the guys to bring out to replace ours? Thanks in advance!

here you go:
Jaguar XJ-S 2D SED
FW00348 GTNSFV
Made in South Africa
At the bottom of the sticker it had this number: 321300AGWU
It also had a barcode under the sticker with this number on it: 321300AGWU/014
I talked to FFR this morning, so for everybodies benefit...
There is no difference between the windshield shipped on the grey bodies and the black bodies (that is where my confusion was).
The windshield has always been, and still is from a 1986 XJS Jaguar

Thanks Steven! Now does anyone know the code of the backboard glass that he just smashed?

Does anyone have the part number for the windshield universal seal...the manual says #10...I'm looking for a number I could google that would return a seal that I could order/purchase.

Chris I just went down to a windshield installer shop and bought some. They have it by the roll so I just picked one I thought would be good and bought 15 feet of it.

I am in Connecticut looking for 2 replacement windshields for the coupes. Does anyone in the Northeast know of a reasonably priced source?
Per the initial posts below, the coupe windshield is from a 1986 Jaguar XJ-S 2D SED
Thanks!

I'm glad this came up again. I'm in process of getting mine replaced.

For what it's worth my Gray coupe came with the 1986 XJS Jaguar (for real replacement) windshield.
It was thick and heavy and did not fit well, but was okay...
My Red coupe came with a (for lack of better term) generic windshield, thinner and fits like a glove.
I think FFR is having them made to their specs, might want to confirm.

Likely still the Jag window just replacement part. OEM windshields tend to be thicker than some of the replacements.
I had one replaced on another car and the guy asked if I wanted OEM or one that was cheaper. I asked the difference and he said the only noticeable difference is the thickness and long term is more likely to show some delamination after 15 or 20 years.

This place is quoting $275 for the glass uninstalled, pickup at warehouse, but that still seems a bit pricey, no?

That doesn't seem so bad compared to my $400 truck window.

By the way Dan, I'm planning on being at the Glen 9/11 and 12 with the Phoenix group for a DE.

Darn, no leads out there on a source for affordable replacement windshields? Is everyone else out there using glass coverage through insurance, or still on the original windshields?

I used glass coverage in mine. But was quoted $230 for the glass by itself for the cheaper one and over $300 for the OEM.
