Will MK II rollbar fit MK IV

Would a swap be possible ? I know the MK3 will work cause I tried it. But need to know abiut the MKII Thanks.

The MK2 rollbar is identical to the MK3 rollbar. It will work on some early MK4 kits. The roll bar mounts on the MK4 have changed. If you have fit an MK3 rollbar on your car and it worked fine you can also use an MK2 or MK1 rollbar. The later model MK4 roll bar mounts have changed and the larger diameter rollbars will not fit on the frame.

Just wandering through this sub forum and might as well butt in, perhaps showing my ignorance.
1. I'm inferring that the earlier roll bars were larger outer diameter (2"?) compared to the current mark IV (1.5"?).
2. I think that I have an early mark IV, in that my rollbars fit within the stub tubes on the chassis, whereas my friend PJ with a later serial number has the rollbars fitting over the stub tubes on his chassis. In other words, my chassis stubs are a larger diameter.
3. could you not put short lengths of the appropriate tubing between the smaller ID current mark IV stubs and the ID on the older 2" OD rollbars? as long as it is a good fit all around, once through bolted those rollbars won't be going anywhere.

You're absolutely right Rick. Basically an intermediate or adapter 1-3/4" stub must be used in current model MKIV's. The proper size sleeve will fit over the existing stub and the 2" roll bar could then be installed over that.
