Last fall, I went in with a friend and one of my brothers to rent a hangar at the local airport for winter storage. Well, with the blessing of my wonderful wife, I just agreed to extend the lease on my own for quite a while - so I now have 1500 sq. ft. of heated, insulated, well lit, and best of all - gated and patrolled facilities - just 10 minutes down the road from my house. Come the end of April, the other cars will be out, leaving just my open trailer and roadster body. I'll be doing as much of my bodywork as possible there on my own before sending the body to the paint shop for the final flattening and color - so no mess at home! Then, once the body is out for paint, I'll be moving all of my larger machine tools in for the long term. Since I only have a two-car garage at home and we don't plan on moving anytime soon, this is going to be come my ultimate hide-away for a while. Plans include my lathe, bandsaw, drillpress, belt sander, as well as future acquisitions of a large upright compressor and a lift (finally!!!). One corner will be set aside for relaxation, too, with a flatscreen, fridge, and left-over furniture that's hanging out in our basement right now.
