The 818 is often referred to as a "world" car, but will it be sold in the US only at first? We can get the other FF cars here, so I assume it'll be coming and will probably be the first country outside the states to get it. But how long should we expect to wait? Will we also be able to buy one in 2013? I'm not sure how much longer the hod rod took to get here, if someone knows that might be a good guideline. Thanks.

We're not even sure when we will get it in the States!

I would imagine it would be available for shipping to Canada at the same time as the US, there is no reason why it wouldn't.
Also, money talks.

I know nothing about this, but it seems to me the question is this - Are there any additional hurdles for FFR to clear before they can ship to Canada? On their other models, are the Canada bound kits physically identical to the US kits? Is there any red tape?

Well this brings up the whole 'world car' thing. There has got to be a number of hurdles to get past, unique for each country. Even just to Canada, which you'd think would be one of the easiest to sort out, took some investment of time for both FFR and the first pioneering great white north Roadster kit builders.

This is going to be a challenge for FFR that is probably going to have to be tackled one country at a time, based on demand. They already got a good handle on what it takes to sell their other kits up north, so being that 818 is intended to be world, its certain they already have whatever is needed for 818 Canada in the works (though original question, will that be on day 1, unkown by forum at this time).

It might be a good idea to check with some of the Canadian builders on the GTM forum. I think thay've been at it for a while and have a fair amount of expertise in the matter.

It'll come only with fewer parts as Canada wont allow eveerything into the country...ie. shocks, etc.

This is my first post, but I'm in Australia and am also very curious about a timeframe. I only found out about the 818 a week ago, but I'm very interested in building one of these. Normally I tend to prefer older cars (I have several 60's/70's cars I have rebuilt and modified), but this takes my fancy with its small and lightweight design (one of my main toys at the moment is a heavily modified MG Midget).

Factory Five has implied that they expect to be ready to begin sales around October.

Curious as to where this was implied. I'd like to set a goal for my finances. :-)
