Hello everyone. I purchased a GEN 4 combo from Factory five and need some assistance with the throw out bearing.

I have everything installed and this is the last step and I am having a hard some of understanding what is going on with it. I would upload a picture but I am unable to do so with my phone. It appears the throw out bearing is a "floating" assembly and freely rotates on the splined hub. The lines are coming out of the bottom and are not vertical which are making it almost impossible to bleed. I am unable to get pressure or a good bleed on the system. Is this a common issue or did factory five mess up the installation? At this time I have not been able to get a hold of them.

Thank you.

What kind of bellhousing are you using. The lines should be coming out of the driver's side at the nine oclock position. You can still bleed at any position. Open the bleeder for several minutes and you should see fluid start to drip. Leave the throw out bearing in the rest position and open the bleeder. Hold your finger over the bleeder valve and have an assistant push the pedal down slowly and repeat. Your finger should just work as a check valve to let air out. Do not try to hold back any fluid. You should feel air coming out against your finger within three or four strokes. When it clears and just fluid comes out close the bleeder. There are several ways to do this. This is just one of them.

Another way is buy a one man bleeder valve, which is just a check valve that clips on to the bleeder valve. NAPA and most auto parts stores have these. Once you have fluid to the valve just pump it three or four times and you should be done.

Also not sure what trans you are using but if it's a Tremec you need to set up the runout for the trans mounting and throw out bearing spacing before assembly.

Ok thank you. I purchased the Gen 4 and Tremec TKX combo from Factory Five AT. Came complete and assembled. After watching a few videos on you-tube i feel like i can get it working this afternoon. Just need to get some more fluid. I am getting fluid to come out of the bleeder but still has quite a bit of air in the system. Just not used to the "floating" bearing assembly concept i guess. Will report back. Thanks!

I probably followed the same youtube videos you did, and it worked. Keep the end submerged, and pretty much bleed it like brakes.

I found for me it took a big push to get the bubble out, per the video put the end in a tube of fluid. I tried using a break type check valve bleeder and could not get a large enough surge out.

I rotated the bearing so the vent was at the top and did the fluid over drain vent technique. It feels like it’s working now. I’ll know for sure this week when I fire her up. Thanks!
